I have received compensation for this post, but all opinions are my own.

Let's do something a little different today: Everyone loves music, right? And a lot of people use musicians as the inspiration for their outfits. My friends know that I am not a new/popular music kind of girl. I prefer Classic Rock and the oldies when I want to get my spirits up. I turn to bands like The Eagles, Beatles, James Taylor or Billy Joel and if I'm in the mood for "new" music, John Mayer (and more recently Manifesto - a British band that I was introduced to via a Harry Potter actor who is in the band.) To switch things up, I decided to create a look inspired by The Police!

The Police were one of the most popular groups in the 70s and 80s and their songs are still played on most radio stations. You would likely find at least one of them in a leather jacket or a blazer, and they loved their jeans! As for shoes, they were fans of boots and sneakers. A pretty easy look to recreate because it has a certain ease about it. (Don't worry, we won't go totally 80's with over-sized blazers as they did.)  I created a look with items from BooHoo.com!

Today I'm featuring a pair of "Bertha" sunglasses from GlassesShop.com! They are a really fun red/burgundy color that gradates down. So to bring out the color I decided to wear some burgundy pieces.  This pair was also good at blocking out the sun, just like the first pair I featured on Friday. Both the dress and sweater have been in my closet for quite some time. This is the first appearance the sweater has made on the blog, but I had it long before that started. And this dress was one of my first Marc Jacobs buys (after my velvet polka dot blazer) on eBay in 2010.

Today I'm sharing the first of two posts featuring sunglasses from GlassesShop.com! This pair is called the "Fanny" and features pearls and a jaguar on the arm! I love that little touch of fun added to an otherwise classic pair of sunglasses. And, what would a sunglasses review be without talking about the sun? Sometimes even when I wear sunglasses I find myself squinting as I'm driving or walking in the sun. That wasn't the case with these, I could almost look directly at the sun without being bothered. That's the mark of a great pair!

This past weekend I drove up to Massachusetts to go to the drive-in with my friend Kat! We saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Hercules (with The Rock.) Sadly the car battery died so we couldn't really hear Hercules all that well, but it looked bad anyway, ha ha. I didn't hate TMNT like I thought I would, but it is still nowhere near as good as the ones from the 90s. It was such a great night, perfectly cool weather, but not too cold!

I don't wear this top nearly as much as I should. I guess it's because it's more girly than my usual style. So to toughen it up I paired it with these skinny jeans that are aptly called "love destroyed."  This post also sees the return of Arnold, my beloved purple purse! He's been neglected lately in favor of smaller bags, but I used it basically every day for 2 years straight, so it needed a break. Wouldn't you say?

Summer is far from over, but I couldn't help but share these photos from the Tory Burch Fall lookbook! I am so looking forward to getting back into all of my comfy sweaters and jeans.  My favorite thing to wear!

I especially love the cora dress, bettina coat, danielle tunic & skirt and the shawn tunic. Maybe come sale time I'll actually be able to afford some of the pieces! One can dream, right?

I was provided a credit to 9th & Elm for the purpose of this post, but all opinions are my own

A couple weeks ago, 9th & Elm, a store that offers handmade and independent designs, approached me to try out some items from their website. They even have a great selection of vintage items, I have my eye on a bunch of beautiful rings (and this roadrunner brooch)!  It took me quite a while to decide what I wanted since they have so much to offer! But finally I decided and waited anxiously for the times to arrive.

I bought: Oui Oui Paris Tee V-Neck Tee, Owl Cuff in Red and a Blue/Orange i-Glow phone case.
Other items: Skirt: Made by Mom, Sneakers: Keds (DSW), Necklace: BijouLimon (etsy)

This tee is super soft and I love the nod to Paris, I really want to get back there some day! I was only there for 12 hours the first time I went, and that was over 3 years ago now.  And I am obviously a huge fan of this owl cuff! I have amassed quite the collection of owl pieces over the years and now they happen to be trendy - score!

How cool is this case?! It even has a spot for a card, be it an ID, credit card or a Starbucks Gold Card (I don't even drink coffee! Ha ha. Yay for hot chocolate and baked goods)
I've worn this dress twice since buying it two weeks ago. Once was to the "ball" at LeakyCon a couple weeks ago, and second to my cousin's engagement party this past weekend. Such a beautiful dress, and I scored it for under $200! Still a splurge, but it's Burberry.  I definitely see this as a versatile dress. I can wear it with tights and a jacket come Winter and Fall. And in Summer I can wear it like this and with sandals to dress down a bit.

I felt like such a label snob in this outfit, but nothing I bought was full price (except perhaps the Chanel, I saved up a few years for that and still bought it second hand - but it's still expensive) That's what I love about consignment stores. I can find amazing pieces at even better prices, sometimes brand new with tags - like this dress!  It's amazing to me that someone paid (probably) full price, never wore it and then consigned it and I magically found it! Such a thrill, right?

Dress: Burberry London (Roundabout Resale), Heels: Dolce & Gabbana (Uptown Consignment), Bag: Chanel (Madison Avenue Couture)
