Back to vacation posts, but don't worry, we're almost done. On Thursday (meaning July 25th) it was cold and rainy, so we decided to go to Newport since the beach was obviously going to be freezing. I always look forward to visiting Newport, the cute stores, fun buildings and looking at all the boats.  We walked around for a couple hours and had lunch at  The Red Parrot, I highly recommend it, SO delicious! I had fish and chips and it was my favorite of the week (I had fish & chips 3 times, it would have been more but I decided I should eat some other food too.)

My all time favorite store in Newport is Geoclassics. Ever since I was little I've been fascinated by all the fun pieces. They have minerals, fossils and gemstone jewelry. I never leave the store empty handed - this year I got an amazing ammonite pendant, mine came from Madagascar but they have them from multiple locations. I almost got a larger pair that I would have put on display but it was $150 (you can see some here.)

Today I'm showcasing some new pieces I got courtesy of INPINK!  I chose two really cute necklaces, the
Long Purple Stone Open Circle Lariat Necklace  and the Handmade Silver Seashell Layered Necklace! I chose the first one because I love purple and the second one so whenever I feel like escaping to the beach I can throw it on! They have so many amazing pieces it was hard to choose, but in the end I went with necklaces because I hardly ever change my earrings and they're easier than bracelets because they don't get in the way when typing (yes, I'm strange.)

INPINK has also sent over a coupon code so you can get 30% off all jewelry on the site (excludes nail polish and gift cards.) Use code CLOSETFASH30, good until 9/1/2013.

Let's take a break from vacation posts for a couple days. Earlier this year I was introduced to a fun new website, Nyopoly.  I've been perusing it since then and thought I'd let you all know what I think of it! With Nyopoly, you negotiate your personal price on current trends and designer brands (like Jil Sander, Prada, Michelle Monroe and more!) This way, you get what you love, at a price you want to pay. Nyopoly is like walking in to a store, grabbing an item off the shelf, and determining your purchase price with the cashier.

When you join Nyopoly you get a $5 credit AND if you email joe[at]nyopoly.com and say I referred you to the site you'll get your credit doubled to $10!  You can get more Nyopoly money when an offer you make is accepted. If it is accepted on the first offer you get 20% back, the second gets you 10%.

I thought long and hard about what item I wanted to attempt to purchase.  In the end I decided on the Sachi Front Woven Hobo by Melie Bianco in Aqua (unfortunately that had sold out so I got the blush instead.) The retail price is $99 and I got it for $73.99, a little over 25% savings, not too shabby!  To test things out I started my offer at (a very low) $20, and was given a counter offer, then repeated that process until we arrived at the final price.  The item got to me fairly quickly, the site says within 7 to 14 days, but for me it was closer to 7.

Below I paired it with a gorgeous new Free People dress I got on vacation! I love all the braided details and the cutout in the back :) It is part of the New Romantics collection but unfortunately is sold out online.

*I was given a credit to Nyopoly, but my opinions are my own.
The first week back at work after vacation always stinks, you're used to doing nothing all day and have to get back to waking up early and heading off to work.  Luckily I like my job, so it wasn't too bad, just the waking up at 5:40am part.

Yesterday I had quite the fan encounter. I got on the train as usual and when we got to the 3rd stop MELISSA JOAN HART got on and sat right in front of me! She lives in CT & was going to NYC to do a voice over thing - found that out via Twitter! I was freaking out (inside of course) and immediately texted my friend to tell her even though I knew she would be asleep.  I didn't want to bother her so I just discreetly stared like a crazy person. When we got off the train I was right behind her but was too scared to ask for a picture, so sad.  I loved Sabrina and Clarissa Explains it all so it was weird to see her so close up (I did see her at the last Harry Potter premiere, but that was further away and not as exciting.)

On Friday it was cloudy, cold and a little rainy. So when my parents went for a walk I stayed at the house and fed some birds.  At first I was just throwing out bread, but seagulls started coming in so I decided to just sit in the (wet) grass and try to get a particularly chubby bird to eat from my hand.  It took about 20 minutes and constant deleting of video on my camera to make more space for me to get him on film!  My uncle was taking photos of me while all this happened and when finally we got it - video and the perfect photo of the bird eating from my hand. Thankfully my jeans weren't ruined by sitting in the wet grass, ha ha.  That was quite ramble-y...anywhoooo, enjoy the photos and video below!

Nighttime walks on the beach are a staple while on vacation.  The whole family would traipse all the way across the street and walk along the sand and boardwalk taking photos.  Unfortunately we had some rainy nights so we didn't take as many walks as usual.  BUT we luckily had a full moon during the trip and got some great photos!  I pretty much lived in this cashmere sweater at night and on the last 2 days of the trip when it was cold and rainy.  I was lucky enough to win it in Amy's giveaway a couple weeks ago and it arrived just in time to take along.

I love the beach. The sound of the waves, the nice breeze, the cute lifeguards. Ha ha.  It's so nice to just relax and sit in a chair reading a magazine, or lay on a blanket and get sunburn.  I burned for the first time in a looong time this year, but it only lasted a couple days and turned into a tan.

Welcome to the first of many vacation posts! Here is what I wore for the 2 hour drive to our beach house in Rhode Island. When I say our, I mean the house we rented for the week. I wish we owned house on the beach.  The house is literally right across the street from the beach, so we just wake up and walk right over! It also makes night walks on the small boardwalk convenient (more on that later.)  These photos were taken in Galilee when we first arrived. We were a little early to pick up our keys so we hung out on the rocks and had lunch there.
