Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be invited to The Sunday Spill, a special event hosted by Vogue.  The Sunday Spill is a weekly feature on the magazine's website and they decided to turn it into an event; see yesterday's post.  It was a great intimate event on the roof of Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Spa.  The spa is beautiful and if I ever want to spend a day at the spa pampering myself I will definitely make it a Red Door Spa, luckily there is one a little closer than New York.

Vogue's Beauty Director Catherine Piercy hosted the event where she discussed the top nail trends of the summer season, while we enjoyed manicures and refreshments. Her three categories of the day were The New Neutral, Neoprene Brights and Power Pastels. I had such a great time getting my manicure (thanks Carmen!) and meeting some new friends.  I decided on one of the neutral colors, which was like a rose gold, called Buy Me A Cameo by Essie.

I was having difficulty picking out my outfit because it was a VOGUE event, but in the end I decided to forget about that and just went with a simple, comfortable outfit! It was supposed to rain, luckily I was spared, but it was very muggy out.

I was not paid to write this post, I just enjoyed the event and wanted to share the experience!
What a heat wave we've been having!  Even in these barely there outfits I was super hot walking to and from the train this week.  Other than that everything was good.  A nice, non-stressful week. I definitely need those every once in a while.  Last night was my company's 5 year anniversary so there was a big party. It was supposed to go until 2, but I obviously couldn't stay that long because I had to take a train home.  I am probably still sleeping as this goes live, thank goodness for working from home on Fridays. I can get up at 9 and just start working.

In other Harry Potter related news - today my friend Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) is celebrating his 24th birthday!  Yayy! Here's a funny photo of us from the last film premiere (next time I see him I'm making sure it's not 100 degrees so I won't look disgusting.)  And a funny video you might enjoy too, yes that's my head. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!

I wore this on Friday to go shopping with Lydia. We both had the day off and what better to do than shop til we drop!  We started at Starbucks where I found my new Summer drink - a Very Berry Hibiscus.  Next we headed to Coco's on the Green where I was a bad girl and bought a black Marc Jacobs top ($10) and a Salvatore Ferragamo suede skirt ($10) and a gorgeous opal and sapphire ring ($24.)  Next we quickly stopped at Sarah's Cupboard Thrift shop, I didn't find anything there but it's always fun to look around!  Finally we stopped at The Cedar Chest where I found a beautiful Anthropologie dress. Unfortunately it was $59 even though the tag said the person paid 29.99 (on sale from $189)...UGH! Oh well, maybe I'll come across it again somewhere else.

The day was beautiful, nice and hot but with a breeze. Definitely great Summer weather!  I brought out my new Zara shorts for the first time, they're so much fun!  I went with a monochromatic look for their first outing.

The Net-a-Porter Sale is now in Final Reductions! Don't miss out!

As promised, my Marc Jacobs collection.  As I was taking these photos I realized my problem is far worse than I thought.  I can't help it though, Marc Jacobs is amazing. If I was rich, I fear I would have way more than this, which would be awesome!  My obsession started because of Emma Watson.  I saw her in a couple Marc Jacobs jackets and loved them, so I tried to find them on eBay and then learned more about him and his designs.

As you can see, most of these I got way below retail, but I did splurge a couple times...

Marc Jacobs Velvet Polka Dot Blazer x 2: Retail: $398?, I paid $80 and $20 via eBay (I bought 2, 8 years apart because I needed a larger size. But I can't let myself get rid of the original, it was my first Marc Jacobs item)
Marc by Marc Jacobs Dusted Violet Mosaic Cotton Ruffle Tank Dress - Retail: $298, I paid: Christmas Gift

Marc by Marc Jacobs Perfect Purse ostrich-effect PVC - Retail: $225, I paid: Net-a-Porter gift card (on sale as well)
Marc by Marc Jacobs Ozzie Square Baby Aiden Bag - Retail: $328, I paid: $313 via Shopbop

Marc Jacobs MultiColor Blazer - Retail: $298?, I paid $30 via eBay
Marc Jacobs Denim Jacket - Retail: $300?, I paid: $10 at Coco's on the Green

Marc by Marc Jacobs Oversized Sunglasses - Retail: $98, I paid: free with Shopbop gift card
Marc by Marc Jacobs Purple Sunglasses - Retail: $164, I paid: free c/o Sunglasses Shop
Marc Jacobs Wishbone Necklace - Retail: $7, I paid: free c/o Shop It To Me

Marc Jacobs 'Cynthia' Dress - Retail: $398?, I paid: $24 via eBay (worn by Rory on Gilmore Girls and Anne Hathaway! I realized after I bought it)
Marc by Marc Jacobs Dress - Retail: $298?, I paid: $28 via eBay

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Cleo' Print Reversible Bikini (top & bottom) - Retail: $170, I paid: $48 via BlueFly

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Jeepers Peepers' T-shirt - Retail: $68, I paid: $25 at Marshalls
Marc by Marc Jacobs snake T-shirt - Retail: $68, I paid: Christmas gift, from Marshalls

Marc by Marc Jacobs Metallic Mouse Flats - Retail: $238, I paid: $95 with Shopbop gift card
Marc by Marc Jacobs Patent Leather Pumps - Retail: $400, I paid: Net-a-Porter gift card (on sale as well)
Marc Jacobs Sweatshirt - Retail: $?, I paid: $10 at Coco's on the Green
Marc Jacobs Striped Tank - Retail: $?, I paid: $5 at Coco's on the Green
As long time readers will know, I have a teeny bit of a Marc Jacobs obsession.  He is definitely the designer you will find most of in my closet. Luckily a huge portion of the pieces were found for far less than retail, but a few items I couldn't live without that I paid closer to full price for. The moment Lydia texted me to say she found this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress for NINE dollars I was so jealous! Luckily she let me borrow it because she's awesome like that.  See how she wore it for our blogger meetup.

I decided to go all out and wear all Marc Jacobs pieces, except jewelry, to show how obsessed I am, ha ha.  But the full outfit was relatively cheap because I had gift cards that I used on almost all of it.  I probably paid $100 for all of it (except the dress obviously.)   I wore this outfit over the weekend and plan to wear it to work this week too.

Later this week I might show all my Marc Jacobs pieces, including 2 new ones I got this weekend for under $10!

Happy First Day of Summer! Today is the longest day of the year, hopefully I'll be able to hang out outside for a while and enjoy the fresh air.  We are slowly having less rainy days per week, that's something to be excited about, right?!  I have another day off today so I'll probably spend it shopping even though I shouldn't really spend money if I want to splurge on something when the Net-a-Porter End of Season Sale gets to final reductions. ;)

I really need to switch up my morning poses. But I take these pictures at 5:50 in the morning, so my mind is still in sleep mode.  On the plus side, at least I don't look like death warmed up this week. And I actually let my hair dry naturally this week so it's straight. I've been lazy lately and have gone to bed with my hair in a bun so it's wavy in the morning (and then straightens through the day.) Oh straight hair problems, gotta love 'em!

Also, I guest posted on Stylelista Confessions today, check it out!

Some inspiration because tomorrow is the official first day of Summer! Wahooo!

The return of Summer means my boyfriend jeans are back in business. They are super destroyed so I can only wear them when it's warm-ish, otherwise I'll get too cold. I've been looking for a pair of dark washed boyfriend jeans with no rips, but it's hard to find exactly what I want.  I wore this over the weekend to go shopping with my parents. I bought a very odd assortment of items: a tall accent cabinet with a peacock on it (only $20!,) some new candles from Yankee Candle and a bunch of plants for a mini garden my mom and I are making at my cousin's house (aka my house.)
