LuckyFABB Day 1 was insane! We woke up at 6:45, got ready and headed off to the Times Center to wait in line. After we got in, there was some mingling before heading into the main room for our first panel: "How to Make it on your Own Terms" with Brandon Holley (Lucky) and Terry Lundgren (Macy's).  Next it was a panel with Lauren Sherman (Lucky,) Leandra Medine (Man Repeller,) Leah Chernikoff (Fashionista) and Annie Georgia Greenberg (Refinery29.)  Finally, we had a Google Analytics lesson from Raman Kia before a coffee break and checking out some booths.

After that we had the pleasure of listening to Rachel Zoe talk to Brandon Holley.  "The Next Wave" with Lauren Sherman, Steven Kolb (CFDA,) Mitch Grossback (CAA,) Shana Fisher (High Line Venture Partners) and Federico Marchetti (Yoox) talked about what is next for bloggers and how the industry is changing.  Next we heard from Susan Lyne (Gilt,) Lauren Bush Lauren (FEED,) Aliza Licht (DKNY) and Erica Domesek (P.S. I made this...) about Amplifying our Brands.

We then broke into some Breakout Sessions after lunch. I was sitting in on "How Do I Look?," a chat on how your blog looks to brands and "Developing Your Voice."  Everyone reconvened in the main conference room to hear Lauren Conrad. Finally we had the opportunity of listening to a chat between Simon Doonan (Barney's) and the lovely Anna Sui! That was the highlight of my experience.  After all the panels were complete, there was a cocktail party with munchies.

Lydia and I left soon after and headed back to our hotel to rest our feet. Then we quickly headed out for dinner (Chinese food) and some ice cream. Quite the busy day!  And, if you made it through all of that, here are some photos of my outfit!

Skirt: Made by Mom [inspired by Michael Kors], Jacket: Theyskens' Theory (Nordstrom Rack) $180, Top: Splendid (net-a-porter) $32, Sandals: Miu Miu (eBay), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs "Aidan" (shopbop), Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Vanessa Mooney giveaway, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card
Continuing on with the LuckyFABB outfits, Tuesday evening we headed of to the Bowery Hotel for the Lucky and Aloxxi Pre-FABB cocktail party!  I was so excited when Lucky invited me to this event because we were going to get hair color consultations from experts and then have Lauren of My Closet in Sketches draw us!

It was such a fun event and I met lots of new friends such as Lucy, Sam and Courtney. I also had the pleasure of meeting and chatting for a while with Clemmy of Lucky, another wonderful woman! We even got to meet Nicole, the namesake of Nicole by OPI, she was so nice and we were obsessed with her Sandro dress (I couldn't find it online, sadly)!

Dress: Edun (The Outnet) $100,  Heels: Lanvin $82, Bag: Chanel, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors
In case you were wondering, my hair color personality is "A Brunette for Casanova," how cute is that?! All their hair colors have fun names, just like the OPI nail colors (because they are owned by the same person)

No words today, only a photo in remembrance of those whose lives were lost on September 11th 2001. I cannot believe it has been 11 years since that horrible day.

Let the NYC and LuckyFABB recap posts begin! Today you get my arrival look. On Tuesday, Lydia and I headed off to New York City.  I wanted to be comfortable but still chic, enter: my T by Alexander Wang ruched skirt!  It was the perfect travel outfit, the skirt is so versatile I'm surprised it took me this long to buy it. (Perhaps the same thing would happen with the Acne Pistols, but I just can't spend $570 on them!)

Stay tuned for three other outfits I wore while in NYC (I didn't take photos of my last look...oops!)

Skirt:  T by Alexander Wang (net-a-porter), Tank: Ellen Tracey (Marshalls) $12, Flats: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) $95, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Vanessa Mooney giveaway, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card

We had such amazing weather last Wednesday so I decided to wear a sweater my mom passed down to me. My Grandmother made it a LONG time ago and my mom used to wear it all the time, too bad she didn't give it to me earlier this Summer, I could've gotten a lot more use out of it! But no matter, I'll wear it again next year too.

She also gave me two long sleeve sweaters my Grandmother made, one is a pink one she made for my mom, the other is really over-sized because it was made for my dad and he doesn't wear it anymore! Total score because over-sized pieces are on trend this season, and this is even better than buying something because whenever I wear it I'll be reminded of my Grandma.

Sweater Vest: Made by Grandma, Shorts: Zara, Sandals: Target $15, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card

This post is dedicated to my Grandmother who passed away almost 11 years ago. RIP Grandma.

There are places I remember, all my life, though some have changed. Some forever not for better, some have gone and some remain. All these places have their moments, with lovers and friends I still can recall, some are dead and some are living. In my life I've loved them all.

Well, ladies, here is the outfit I chose on my Marshalls Fall Fashion Challenge Shopping Spree! As a quick recap, Marshalls and Lucky Magazine sent me on a mission to find a Fall look for under $100. (full post here) Unfortunately I went $5 over, but I think I still pass.  As you can see, I went with a mix of all the trends: prints, ladylike with an edge, and "it" colors, burgundy and spiced orange! I can't wait to actually wear this when temperatures drop!

I may go back to the store and get the brown jeans/snakeskin top combo, that was neck and neck with this outfit.

Dress: Jessica Simpson "Leo" c/o Marshalls, $24.99 (retail $69); Blazer: Gibson "Equestrian" c/o Marshalls, $39.99 (retail $98); Booties: White Mountain "Sugarbabe" c/o Marshalls $39.99 (retail $89), Socks: my own, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls; different trip) $20
Recently I was challenged by Lucky Magazine and Marshalls in Marshalls Fall Fashion Challenge! I was sent a $100 gift card with which to find an outfit using the latest fall trends! As you all know by now, Marshalls is one of my favorite places to shop, so I was thrilled with this opportunity.  Marshalls is your go to shop for on-trend designer items at unbelievable prices. The secret is in their buyers - they are the ultimate treasure hunters and are constantly traveling around the world to find deals on the hottest items so you'll find amazing new pieces in stores each week!

Here are the trends I was asked to choose from:
  • Color - find the hottest colors of the season, like spiced orange in a variety of accessories from totes to smoking shoes
  • Prints - get in touch with your wild side with graphic prints from animal to Aztec
  • Ladylike with an Edge - choose from a selection of classic feminine staples that have a modern twist, like peplum dresses and edgy tops with leather detailing
I decided to keep two major things in mind while I was shopping: burgundy (my color of choice) and prints (anything!) And finally, a few tips from me to you!
  • Take pieces into the dressing room even if it doesn't look good on the hanger, it might look good on you
  • Try different combinations with the pieces you bring, you never know what great outfits you'll find
  • Don't discriminate based on size (unless it's too small.) Oversized is in so if you like something, try it out!
  • Start in the clearance section, you never know what you'll find, then move on to your favorite sections
  • And finally, play dress up with their clothes, something you never thought of wearing might look amazing!
Enough chatter, here is a quick video I filmed while I was shopping up a storm at my local Marshalls! Check back tomorrow to see what outfit I chose.

Now the really fun part, Marshalls has offered up a $100 gift card to one of my readers!

Details:  This giveaway is open to my readers in the USA and will run until September 13th.  The winner will be announced on Twitter.

Mandatory Entry: Follow Closet Fashionista (with Google or Bloglovin) and comment with your favorite Fall trend.  Make sure to leave your email and let me know how you follow.

Extra Entries: Leave one comment for EACH additional entry. Each comment counts as an entry so if you put all your extra entries in one comment that only counts as 1 entry, so make sure to separate them...

Well, today I am off to LuckyFABB with Lydia! We're heading to NYC today so we can just wake up and head off to the convention on Wednesday morning.  We will be in the city until Friday and it's going to be a crazy week!  A full day on Wednesday and Thursday and then some lazing about on Friday to decompress.

See you on the flip side!
Happy Labor Day, everyone! As we all know, Labor Day is the holiday that pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers [x]. BUT most of us use it to celebrate the end of Summer and beginning of Fall.  I think both of these are reason to celebrate this wonderful day.

What I don't agree with, however, is the no white after labor day rule.  I was reading a blog the other day, unfortunately I can't remember which it was, and the author said she tried to find the source of the "rule" and couldn't find a definitive source. I have never abided by the rule, but I don't have much white in my wardrobe as it is, just a big chunky sweater.

Here are some great ways to wear white in the upcoming months!  I am recreating the first look with the aforementioned sweater and a skirt my mom and I just completed!
