Yesterday I went to Westport for an appointment and stopped by Roundabout's Westport location on the Post Road because an ex-coworker had told me about it. They carry so many designers, from Chanel to Hermes, Lanvin, Phillip Lim and so much more! It was like walking into a candy store! They had a gorgeous Chanel jacket for $500, but sadly it was a size 14...  There was also a sale going on: 65% off clothes, 75% off shoes and 505 off bags & accessories. (except Chanel, Hermes, Valentino and something else)

I was looking at all the shoes and none caught my eye until I saw these gorgeous turquoise Lanvin pumps! They were a 37.5 and I'm usually a 38 or 38.5 but I tried them anyway and they fit! WAHOO! They were originally $960, the store was selling them for $329 and after the discount that was $82.85! How could I resist?  These babies are adding a nice pop of color to my shoe closet.

Next up is a cute Valentino tank! They were selling it for $129, but it was 65% off so I paid $45 (still a lot, but it was cute and I needed to blow some money to make myself feel better, ha ha)

This has been a crazy few days, Friday and Saturday were sunny one minute and then pouring rain the next. Then Sunday I was dying taking these photos because of the heat. Summer is very fickle, ha ha.  I decided to go for a breezy, monochromatic look and then grabbed Arnold, my trusty Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, for a punch of color.
[Today also happens to be my best friend from college, Kera's, birthday! I haven't seen her since we graduated 2 years ago...so depressing! :( ]

Yesterday I felt like Cinderella, but not because I found my Prince Charming; I was so excited to head out to NYC but ended up locked in a tower. Long story short * I couldn't get to the city so I missed out on two amazing events. The Brahmin Fall Handbag preview and the Garance Doré for Kate Spade cocktail party, both of which I was really looking forward to for over a week. Unfortunately I didn't have a fairy godmother to save me and get me to the ball. I didn't want my outfit to go to waste so I took some photos so the day wouldn't be a total waste. (The jacket was for when it got a liiiittle chilly at night, wasn't sure I would need it, but always be prepared!)

Dress: Marc by Marc Jacobs gift, Heels: MICHAEL Michael Kors (DSW) $35, Bag c/o Brahmin & VOGUE, Jacket: Theyskens' Theory (Nordstrom Rack) $180, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card, Bracelets: Burlington Coat Factory $7, Necklaces: gift, giveaway, giveaway, Watch: Michael Kors

*I got ready and headed to the train station with a slight suspicion that I might not get parking, but I had always been able to find a space before so I wasn't too concerned.  Well I should have been.  The lot was completely full, except for the permit spaces.  So I missed the train and came home.  There wasn't enough time to call my mom to have her get me for the next one and she wouldn't have been able to pick me up when I got back so there was no way to get home.

I decided to give it one more shot and tried again for the last possible train to get me there in time, but there still was no parking.  Dream over.  No fun events for Megan...and now I was also embarrassed because I replied yes to the events and had to email again to let them know I wouldn't be able to make it. AND I made a big deal about going to them on Twitter, here and Facebook.... *sigh* So I felt like a complete idiot.  Needless to say there were some tears, and I NEVER cry. But then I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and Cinna Stix from Dominos to cheer up (light on the cheese and sauce, double pepperoni)

UPDATE: I would have called a cab but 1. I am terrified of them, because of people... (social phobia, it's a miracle that I was even going to the city alone) and 2. Whenever my roommate calls them they take FOREVER to get to our house, because they get lost, so I would still miss the train ;)

There's something about jeans that I just can't resist. Though, most of the time, I am a good girl and do resist.  Whenever I go shopping I always end up in the jeans section drooling over the newest pairs.  Skinny, wide leg, colored, printed! Whatever they come in, I love them!  As Robert Palmer said, "might as well face it, you're addicted to jeans" (well, actually...he said "love" but you know what I mean) As the lyrics go: (change kiss to pair and love to jeans)
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love

You see the signs, but you can't read

You're runnin' at a different speed
Your heart beats in double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine, a one track mind
You can't be saved
Oblivion is all you crave
If there's some left for you
You don't mind if you do
Here is my jean collection, which I have whittled down considerably and continue to resist adding to. Not sure how long that will last, there are too many great new prints available.  What is the one item you just can't resist?! (if there's a link, they are still available online...for now)
Jolt, Current/Elliott, Guess, Rag & Bone, Free People, American Eagle, Free People, Free People, American Eagle
Free People, Guess, Jolt, Current/Elliott
Here are some jeans I've resisted in the past few weeks...perhaps if they go on sale I'll pick them up.

Today I'm off to NYC for two fashion events, don't know how I'm going to make it to both, but I WILL!...Hopefully I'll have photos for you tomorrow!
I have had this two piece Splendid dress for a month and have yet to show you it's natural state. Reason being?  It is just too skin hugging for my taste.  I bought it in the Net-a-Porter end of season sale not knowing how tight it would really be.  But I loved the top part so much that I decided to keep it in the end. Tt's really a shame because the fabric is so soft and comfy.  Since I probably won't wear the look out in public the way I bought it, I thought I'd show it in case it is your style.  I may not like skin tight clothes, but I know other girls do.

Dress/Top Combo: Splendid (net-a-porter sale) $48, Heels: Guess (Marshalls) $40

And here are a few of the ways I have worn the top half.  The possibilities are endless! Next time I'll wear it with my denim shorts from Zara! Perhaps I should wear the dress part as a nightgown so it doesn't rot in my closet.
The heat is beginning to get to me...oh who am I kidding, I can't stand the heat ever. The only good thing about it is you can wear shorts, mini skirts and dresses without tights, ha ha.  But I hate being hot and sweaty and gross...hurry up Fall! (but not too quickly...)  It's at times like these when you just want to stay inside all day to escape the heat.

I wore this yesterday to go grocery shopping and to buy some supplies for camping later this month! My best friends and I are going to Vermont for the second year in a row, but I used to go with my family every Summer when I was younger...ahh memories!

Shorts: Zara, Tank c/o OASAP, Sandals: Target $15, Bracelets: Burlington Coat Factory $7, Watch c/o OASAP, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card

I know we are still in the midst of Summer, but Fall is my favorite season (for Fashion and weather) and tons of Fall trend updates are beginning to appear online.  I, for one, am very happy that the colored/printed/textured jean look is still very much on trend.  Not that it being off-trend would stop me from wearing it. In my case, I am VERY excited to wear my burgundy Current/Elliot leopard print jeans with my new Theyskens' Theory leather jacket!

Shopbop recently posted a lookbook illustrating many of the new denim trends that are emerging for Fall!  I decided to create some cheaper versions of the looks (and linked the actual pieces).  Who else is ready for Fall fashion?

Tip: If you are in the US, head to TJ Maxx and Marshalls for the latest designer jeans for great prices! Last time I went I found giraffe print jeans, lace print jeans and more! (I resisted buying them)

Another lesson learned in this post: when you can't find what you want in womenswear, check the men's section!

Sometimes it's nice to be a kid again and not worry about anything. Yesterday I went home because two of my aunts and cousins went over to go swimming.  I wore a really simple outfit and promptly changed into my bathing suit so we could go swimming.  It was me, my 16 and 21 year old brothers, a girlfriend, my 11 year old cousin and 4 year old cousin.  We had a water fight. It was glorious.  Some random photos from the day.

P.S. If you could "heart" this video for me I would really appreciate it! The Contest ends in a week and a half and I need to get back into the top 10 to have a chance!

Dress: Kohl's, Sandals: Seychelles (DSW) $35, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors // Bathing Suit: DKNY

Flowers!
Fabric to make a skirt like this Michael Kors one
Reading material, sunglasses and cute owl from Christine
And a front tuck into the pool! :) Like my hair?

This T by Alexander Wang skirt is another new favorite in my wardrobe. I am very glad I finally bit the bullet and bought it. I can't wait to wear it with tights and/or a leather jacket come Fall! The day I wore this it was a tiny bit chilly (except it was still in the high 70s) so I decided to experiment with layering.  I haven't worn heels since a wedding 2 weeks ago, it felt weird to be in them.  But the funny thing is, I am more comfortable in most heels than I am in flats, I'm weird like that.

Skirt: T by Alexander Wang, Top: American Eagle hand-me-down, Sweater: Forever 21 $11, Wedges: Steve Madden (DSW) $35, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Necklace: giveaway, Watch: Michael Kors

Song of the Day: Say You Don't Want It by One Night Only
I was planning on posting another outfit today, but then net-a-porter sent over some really great news that I had to share! DKNY and FEED have teamed up to raise money for the United Nations World Food Program by way of a three piece capsule collection, available for purchase at net-a-porter.
FEED began in 2006 when model activist Lauren Bush designed a bag to benefit the United Nations World Food Program. To date, FEED has raised enough money through the sale of products to provide over 60 million school meals to children around the world. All FEED products are made with sustainable materials designed as an alternative to disposable paper and plastic bags, and manufactured under fair labor standards.

With each item sold from this capsule collection, DKNY will make a guaranteed donation to support the work of FEED. There are three pieces in the collection and details on what your purchase will do may be read below:
FEED also has many other items from bracelets to t-shirts available on their website. If you can't afford to spend the money for a DKNY piece, you can still help out by picking up a bracelet or other small trinket.
