These shorts were an immediate favorite the moment they arrived in the mail. I've wanted to wear them every day, but I have resisted. I tried to style it differently than this look last week, so I went for a more classy outfit (I think...) I took the opportunity to wear my new Splendid top from the Net-a-Porter sale. It is a bit loose up top, so I can't bend down without giving people a show, but that's okay because it's super comfy!

Top: Splendid (net-a-porter) $30, Sweater: Tahari (Marshalls) $20, Shorts: Zara, Flats: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) $95 w/gift card, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card, Bracelets: old, Cobra Necklace: Vanessa Mooney giveaway, Belt: Kenneth Cole Reaction (Marshalls) $7, Watch: Michael Kors

(wow, my legs look super long in that second picture...for those of you that have been asking I'm only 5'2" or 157cm)

It was sprinkling when I took my pictures so I decided to do a crazy one ;)

And for those of you that don't know, my outfit post titles are (almost) always song titles, here's today's: A Minor Variation by Billy Joel :)

FINALLY to keep us in the Olympic mood, and since Women's Gymnastics is on again tonight I thought I would share some of my past with you. I did gymnastics for 13 years. I wasn't at the Olympic level, but I was pretty good. The first video is from when I was 9 at an exhibition and is really embarrassing. The second is a meet when I was in high school. (I won Nationals in 2004 with that routine for my age group) I might share some more with you another day if you want.
Who doesn't love a well dressed man?  I know I do, how can you resist a gorgeous guy in a dashing suit or sweater...makes me melt!  Why girls like men who wear their jeans down to their butts and disgusting ratty clothing always alludes me. Here are some stylish men I wouldn't mind as some arm candy.  Who would you add to this post? (I only picked a few because this could go on forever)

Hint: For stylish menswear check out Mr Porter, the male Net-a-Porter! Even though I'm a girl, I love perusing the site.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt - I still have a hard time forgetting that he was the awkward looking Roger in Angels in the Outfield, but Joseph grew up quite well. (P.S. He is awesome in The Dark Knight Rises...)
Matt Lewis - No stylish men post would be complete without my pal Matt.  Starting out as the awkward Neville, he has grown up into a great guy (with great red carpet style might I add)
Ryan Gosling - I may be one of the few girls that dislikes The Notebook (kill me now...), but I do agree that Mr. Gosling is one sexy beast. I'm obsessed with him in Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Jake Gyllenhal - A lot of people don't find him attractive, but I guess I'm into awkward looking men...

And to keep us in the Olympic spirit, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, half naked! <3 them :)
That's all for now! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
On Wednesday night I FINALLY saw The Dark Knight Rises with my roommate and our other best friend.  I won't spoil you, but I will say that it was insanely amazing!!! My favorite of the trilogy at this point, I need to see it a few more times to really decide though, ha ha.

I wanted to wear my new sweater and shorts and luckily enough they work perfectly together! This has to be one of my favorite outfits in a while, along with when I wore my T by Alexander Wang skirt! Sorry in advance for the photo overload, I couldn't pick my favorites!

Sweater: LAUREN Ralph Lauren (Good Will) $9, Shorts: Zara, Flats: H&M $13, Bag: LAUREN Ralph Lauren gift, Bracelet: 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors

I'm also going to start using this widget so you can recreate my looks!

And, last but not least, here's my "I'M GOING TO SEE BATMAN" jump.
A few new items I've acquired over the past week.  First up is a pair of denim shorts from the Zara sale, I love these because you can wear them high waisted (left) or boyfriend style (right.) Next is a Zara blazer I've had my eye on for a while...unfortunately they were out of my size so I had to get the next size up, not sure how I feel about it.  I had some Harry Potter advertising money in my PayPal so I don't feel bad spending how much I spent, ha ha. If it were "real money" I would.

Lastly is a blue and cream striped Lauren by Ralph Lauren sweater I snapped up at Good Will on Tuesday for $9!  It is a size Large so it's slouchy on me, but that makes it even more perfect! The only problem is it is a bit uneven, the slits on the side aren't both on the side...one is in the back. Oh well, who will be looking at that anyway?!

Have you gotten anything new (and on sale) lately?!

It was quite hot and sunny yesterday, resulting in photo taking being rather difficult. I didn't want to spend too long fiddling with my camera so, unfortunately, these are the only okay shots of my outfit.  I wore this to go out to lunch with some friends and then I stopped at Good Will for a quick browse.  I walked out with a Ralph Lauren sweater and Monsters Inc. & The Incredibles on DVD! You'll see the sweater tomorrow when I post some of my other new items (hint: ZARA!)

P.S. Who loves Stevie Wonder's album Hotter Than July which, obviously, is the inspiration for my post title?  As you all know (from me saying it a million times) I'm an oldies music girl, thanks to my parent's having excellent taste in music.

Top: Express $35, Skirt: abercrombie & fitch girls $12, Sandals: Seychelles (DSW) $35, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Necklace: Vanessa Mooney giveaway win, Watch: Michael Kors

I have decided to sell this Jason Wu for Target dress because it doesn't get as much love as it deserves (I've worn 3 times including this post).  But before selling it I thought I would give it one last hurrah! If you're interested you can buy it at my Tictail store! So far it's the only item, but I may add more eventually...

P.S. Is anyone planning on going to Lucky FABB (NYC) in September?! I got my early access ticket yesterday. Tickets will be on sale for everyone tomorrow (Wednesday)! I'm so excited, it's going to be my first conference (I could never go before) but I'm also a bit nervous...WHAT TO WEAR?!

Dress: Jason Wu for Target, Bag: Chanel, Shoes: Simply Vera Wang $20, Bangles: Burlington Coat Factory $7, Watch: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card

This Saturday my roommate and I went to our favorite restaurant, The Chowder Pot, for lunch. SO GOOD! We are obsessed with the honey butter bread. It was a very nice day weather-wise, so I was actually able to be somewhat stylish with my blazer and booties. In other news, last week I got my Parsons course booklet because I've been thinking of taking some online courses in fashion! Now I need to decide if I should do non-credit or credit, credit is 3 times the price so I'm leaning toward non-credit because I'm not made of money. ;)

One of the good things about not having to actually go into an office anymore is that I can make use of my smaller purses (I only have three.) I'm sure you've noticed I've been using my little Marc by Marc Jacobs purse more often. Arnold, my big Marc by Marc Jacobs purse, is getting a rest after being used almost every day for a year.

Blazer: Jones New York $40, Tank: Hollister $6, Shorts: Zara, Booties: No.704b. (DSW) $20, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors

If you are a long time follower you will have seen this Marc Jacobs blazer quite a few times [here, here, here and more]. It was one of the first, if not THE first, designer pieces I bought. It was 2006 and I spent a whopping $80 on it, not bad when it probably retailed for over $400.  I fell in love with it after I saw it on Emma Watson in 2005 and made it my mission to find it, I am still in search of this one from a photoshoot she did in Teen Vogue the same year which is also Marc Jacobs. (And one Rory Gilmore wore...I have a Marc Jacobs addiction)

I am still searching for the next size up on eBay because mine is a little small. There are a couple available right now, but unfortunately I need a size 8 because of my shoulders and because these run a bit small (I'm usually a 4 or 6 in jackets)...if you are interested: Size 4 $55 | Size 4 $72

I wasn't planning on leaving my house yesterday but after lunch I decided to call my dentist to make an appointment since I haven't been in a year (oops...) and they happened to have an opening at 4:30! Gotta love when things work out nicely like that, I got it all over with in a day. It was hot out but I knew that the office would be a bit chilly (as most offices are) so I wanted to wear something that would keep me cool outside but not freeze inside. Solution: this Splendid top (which is actually part of a tank dress/top combo!) It's breezy but has sleeves...

Top: Splendid (net-a-porter sale) $48, Skirt: made from old dress, Sandals c/o Sseko Designs, Bangles: old, Rings: Mom's, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop), Watch: Michael Kors

But, as nature would have it, a short while after I took the above photos thunderstorms decided to roll in making it impractical to be wearing a skirt that could be blown in the wind.  I do wear shorts under skirts/dresses but I would still prefer to not give people a show. ;)  So I switched the skirt for some American Eagle boyfriend jeans and off I went!
