I have had today planned since early March 2019. Christian and I were supposed to be at Disney World. More specifically, at Hollywood Studios celebrating Star Wars Day in Galaxy's Edge.  When the opening date of Galaxy's Edge was announced my friends and I planned a trip for November 2019. Christian couldn't come because of work so I decided I would buy an annual pass and we would go again within a year. We decided on early May to coincide with Star Wars Day (May the 4th) and Mother's Day so we could have his Mom come along for a few days.

At the beginning of this March I knew we wouldn't be able to go due to coronavirus. I still held on to my reservations (dining, fast passes, even our special tours) until Disney cancelled them automatically because I needed that sliver of hope to get by. We were supposed to arrive at Disney early yesterday. Instead, we woke up in our own bed.

Even though we won't be at one of my favorite places, we are still going to make the best of everything. We have our health, as do our other family members & friends, and we know Disney will reopen eventually and we can go when it is safe to do so.

Back in the day I used to watch every Star Wars movie on May 4th. Now there are far too many so I pick & choose and do my best to get through them all! Since we're both still working we decided to start yesterday with the best films - the original trilogy. I also watched Rogue One on my own when Christian tired of the marathon. I will continue watching today while working (Christian works in another room.)

What Order to Watch the Movies In

Everyone has an opinion on the best way to watch the Star Wars movies. You can watch them chronologically, release order, with TV shows included OR Machete Order which cuts out The Phantom Menace, which many deem unworthy.  If I was having a first timer watch - and they have survived without spoilers this long - I would have them do it in almost release order. (Though I do enjoy Machete order, but I put in Phantom Menace)
  1. Star Wars: A New Hope
  2. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
  3. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
  4. flashback to Rogue One (the fandom is divided on this film, I love it.)
  5. flashback even further to Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
  6. Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
  7. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
  8. flash forward to Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  9. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (ugh...)
  10. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  11. flashback to Solo: A Star Wars Story
Everything is on Disney+, except Solo is on Netflix for a few more months.

What Else to Watch

  • The Mandalorian on Disney+: Even if you aren't a Star Wars fan this series is amazing! The cinematography is breathtaking and the story is fun.
  • Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian: A documentary series on the making of The Mandalorian - it's brand new as of today! I have to wait until after work to watch the first episode with Christian. After today a new episode will be released each Friday.
  • Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy: A documentary on the original Star Wars trilogy.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars: An animated TV show. I haven't watched this myself yet, I know...shame on me, but lots of friends recommend it!
For our celebrations I donned the Star Wars pajamas I bought back in 2015 and we had popcorn in old movie theater soda cups from other Star Wars movies. Wish I had more of them but my siblings and I divided them up, ha ha!

Other Fun Activities

  • Play Star Wars video games - there are plenty.
  • Do a Star Wars puzzle

Star Wars Baked Goods

If you like to bake, why not whip up a fun Star Wars treat!

This is my 7th Christmas season with this sweater and my love for it has not lessened one bit. I still wear it multiple times through the holiday season (and after too) and don't see myself stopping any time soon.

I originally posted it as a "Dream" outfit in 2011 and bought it in The Outnet's clearance sale in 2013 for $229 (regular $1075, yowza!) Even if I only wore it twice a year, that still brings the cost per wear down to about $16, pretty good! But I'm sure I've worn it more than 14 times over these past 7 years.

It's hard to style in different ways so I don't post it on the blog too often, but for this look I wore it with some studded leggings and over the knee boots. Hidden under my boots are some red and green striped socks that have kitties with Christmas lights on them. The perfect cozy weekend look even if it was a blustery day.

Polar Bear Sweater: Stella McCartney 'Polar bear intarsia wool and alpaca-blend sweater' (The Outnet), Leggings: Rock & Republic Star Wars Studded Leggings c/o Kohl's, Boots: Audrey Brooke 'Mirie' (DSW)

Some days you just want to wear an oversized men's sweater, Star Wars leggings and heeled boots. I think I've only worn this sweater once on the blog, but its one of my favorite "hang around the house" pieces. Then I decided it needed some blog time in honor of Mickey's 90th birthday last month. I think I paid about $5 for it back in 2013. There are a few on eBay right now too if you want to grab one for yourself!

Funnily enough, half of this outfit is thrifted. The sweater, turtleneck and bag were all under $10! (The bag was $2!) The leggings were a gift from Kohl's as a part of my Star Wars photoshoot. The only expensive thing I'm wearing is my boots, which I also got for half retail price at Marshalls.

Sweater: Mickey State Letterman Sweater (thrifted), Turtleneck: Vanessa Bruno (Coco's $10 sale), Leggings: Rock & Republic Star Wars Studded Leggings c/o Kohl's, Boots: Gianvito Rossi 'Finlay' (Marshalls), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted)

People always ask how I can go to Disney so many times and not get bored. The answer is - it's always changing! There are new festivals, new rides and in the case of this trip, whole new sections of the park! My friend and I were super excited about Toy Story Land being open! We had to go 2 separate days to be able to ride both new rides with Fast Passes so we wouldn't have to wait in lines.

(Helpful Note: You can't get a Fast Pass for more than 1 Toy Story ride in your first set of 3 and the Toy Story rides also fill up WAY in advance. Luckily we stayed at a hotel so we could book them 60 days in advance which really helped.)

Yes, I know I'm wearing a Star Wars tee, but to be fair Star Wars was our other major reason for going to Hollywood Studios. We always have to visit our friend BB-8, get The Dark Side Chicken and Waffles at Backlot Express. and ride Star Tours (plus I didn't have any Toy Story stuff yet....I did buy a super cute kid's sweatshirt on our second trip to Toy Story Land.) This also looks like it would be very hot but the fabric is very thin so it was very comfortable even though the temperatures were pushing 90.

Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Shirt c/o Kohl's, Shorts: Banana Republic (Clinton Crossing), Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Erika', Eyeglasses chain: Tinksky (Amazon), Bag: Dooney & Bourke 2017 Sorcerer Mickey Disney Shopper Tote (eBay), Sandals: Sam Edelman 'Ginnie' c/o ThredUp

P.S. If you go this month make sure to get the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Coffin Cake at the ABC Commissary. Soooooo delicious!

And here we go with a TON of Toy Story Land photos! We had beautiful cloudy days which really helped with the Toy Story vibe. Gotta love the nod to Andy's bedroom wallpaper. Skip this part if you're planning on visiting the park and don't want to be spoiled. (I tried to avoid all photos and videos before I went)

The only problem with Toy Story Land is there is NO shade and it gets SUPER hot. We couldn't stay in that section of the park for long when the sun was out because we were getting baked. Luckily it was much better at night. So if you're planning on visiting in the warmer months bring a wet towel for around your neck or get one of those portable fans. You'll need it.
