On day two of our Vermont trip we headed up to Woodstock, but not before a stop at the King Arthur Baking flagship store! I behaved and only bought a few different types of flour (bread, all purpose and Italian-style) and a new cambro dough rising bucket for when I want to see how much my dough has risen or brining something. I wanted more fun ingredients, but refrained for now. I still had a lot of things back home to use up first.

We walked around the Woodstock Green and took some photos and a Reel in front of the Woodstoock Inn, a very popular tourist spot. Then we took a little stroll around the town to Faulkner Park before heading to the Apples & Crafts Fair & Food Truck Festival where I spent too much money on things I didn't need, hah! Bought a super cute sheep ornament made from sheep wool from a local Woodstock farm and a ceramic tree with a black bear climbing up it. So adorable.

Who doesn't love a good blazer or curling up with a good book? This blazer wraps both into one. I don't wear it much since it's such a statement piece but it's one of my favorite blazers.  I wish I wasn't still wearing blazers at this point in the year, but what can you do? Sometimes Winter just wants to stick around.

For this outfit I was inspired by Farfetch's brand new Style Guide. They have an article on why velvet should be your go-to fabric and I completely agree! It's one of my favorites to wear because it's luxurious, fun and soft! It can be worn in any season now thanks to all the different styles that are offered. Velvet now comes in slip dresses, blazers, pants and more!

It's also my blog's 7th anniversary today...how crazy is that?!! In the beginning I never planned on sharing my outfits, and now look at me! 4 times a week!

Hello, new boots! I picked these up at Marshalls a couple weekends ago. They were my first actual purchase (aka not made with advertising money or birthday money) in a couple months so I'm pretty proud of myself. Ha ha. Still pricey, but I pride myself on my ability to get designer clothes for less. 4 pieces in this look are designer and I didn't pay full price for any of them. Most I paid less than 35% of the retail price.

This is one of my more whimsical blazers yet it is still totally wearable because of the limited amount of colors. I feel like a bit of a fraud when I wear it because I don't read as much as I should. I've been doing a lot better this year and a half and have read a good amount. All of Game of Thrones, the Percy Jackson series, Me Before You (to prepare for Matt Lewis being in the film version), The Casual Vacancy and all of J.K. Rowling's Cormoran Strike books. Plus a few more fluffy reads (The Man Repeller and As You Wish) and rereading a few things. I'm currently reading The Heroes of Olympus, the second series in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson world.

I was a little late to the game reading Rowling's 4 latest books even though I bought them all right when they were released. I had to buy them to support her but didn't think they would be my style. The Casual Vacancy DEFINITELY wasn't me, but I've really been enjoying her books under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.  I read the third novel in her Cormoran Strike series in 2 days when it came out at the end of October.  P.S. If you've read the books and like them, check out my friend's new podcast: The Strike Files.

Can you believe February is already over?! I made it through the Fall/Winter portion of the challenge! From now on though, I think I'm just going to keep track of my purchases and try to stick to basics rather than doing the whole 6 month season by season thing. Because sometimes you need to buy Spring items in December...where does that go in the challenge? Who knows! But I'm glad I successfully completed the challenge for 1 year in the original form. Starting next month, my posts will have "French" removed from the title, ha ha.

I went to Roundabout's Winter Blowout sale (Westport location) on Valentine's Day and walked out with 3 great pieces! I spent $220 and the retail price of the items was at least $2200.  I also wanted a gorgeous Burberry Prorsum dress and 3.1 Phillip Lim dress but resisted them because I haven't really been wearing dresses lately. Kind of regretting the Burberry one... And my only other purchase this month was a $6 sweater from Target, quite the difference from the other purchases but I love it just the same! (Was in the wash when I was taking these photos, oops!)

But WAIT! There's more! (I hope you all read that like they say it in the infomericals) This past Saturday I got an email from Roundabout saying they were having an even bigger blowout on their Winter pieces for a limited time! So I texted Lydia and we met up to shop! They still had the Burberry dress, so I HAD to buy it, it was fate! I also bought a different Phillip Lim dress and a Balenciaga sweater dress that was brand new with tags! The Phillip Lim dress is missing from photos because my mom is repairing a small hole in it.

*The boots featured in this post were a gift from Duo Boots. All opinions are my own.*

Earlier this month, Duo Boots emailed to ask if I wanted to participate in their #MyDuo Style Guide campaign.  I was sent a pair of boots to style up in two different ways. I chose the "Ani" Chelsea boot because I was in desperate need of navy shoes, and the style is really cool. I first wore them out to dinner with my friend Kat (outfit #2) and again the following day for some shopping (outfit #1) where I spent way too much money! I actually changed into a new jacket after I bought it, so you're seeing the results of my shopping!

Outfit #1: Blazer: Paul Smith (Roundabout Resale), Sweater: Kenar c/o Marshalls, Jeans: Current/Elliott (The Outnet), Necklace: Mom's, Boots c/o Duo 'Ani'
Outfit #2: Dress: vintage (Twitch Vintage), Blazer: Elie Tahari (Coco's on the Green), Boots c/o Duo 'Ani'
