I really need to start wearing all my blazers again. I have so many and can't get rid of them because they all hold such special memories and are just plain pretty! I mostly stopped wearing them because I don't go out to many "events" these days and wearing a blazer to the grocery store on the weekend feels funny. But I'm just going to go for it now! They're outerwear, so they're practical for this chilly weather This is one of my more recent blazers, bought for $36 in early 2019. Probably one of my last blazer purchases because I made myself stop buying them.
Blazer: Sandro burgundy double breasted blazer (Roundabout Resale)
Striped Top: Splendid 'Duke' striped pullover c/o Shopbop
Jeans: Everlane high-rise skinny jean in mid-blue
Ankle Boots: Candie's "ChiChi" Faux Suede Platform Heeled Boots c/o Kohl's
Bag: Dark Purple Chloé Faye (eBay)
This look felt a little frumpy until I made a couple changes. First I tucked in the tee instead of having it out over the high waisted jeans. Second I slightly rolled up the jeans so they rested just above the boots. Both of these modifications instantly made me look taller.
Cardigan: J.Crew Cosmic Embroidery sweater (shop more cardigans), Tee: Zara (shop short sleeved tees), Jeans: Everlane high-rise skinny jean in mid-blue (shop more high waisted jeans), Ankle Boots: Candie's c/o Kohl's (shop more heeled booties), Simple Pearl Necklace c/o AURate (shop delicate necklaces), Crescent Moon Necklace: Marrin Costello
Check out my Instagram tomorrow to see everyone's looks!
Denim Jacket: Mudd (Kohl's), Dress: ELLE Poppy Zip Up Dress (Kohl's), Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Athanasia' in Croc (Moda Operandi)
Funnily enough, half of this outfit is thrifted. The sweater, turtleneck and bag were all under $10! (The bag was $2!) The leggings were a gift from Kohl's as a part of my Star Wars photoshoot. The only expensive thing I'm wearing is my boots, which I also got for half retail price at Marshalls.
Sweater: Mickey State Letterman Sweater (thrifted), Turtleneck: Vanessa Bruno (Coco's $10 sale), Leggings: Rock & Republic Star Wars Studded Leggings c/o Kohl's, Boots: Gianvito Rossi 'Finlay' (Marshalls), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted)
Now that we're nearing the middle of November, it's time to start thinking more seriously about holiday gifts! For those ladies on your list that are hard to shop for, I recommend checking out the specialty jewelry at oNecklace. The snowflake necklace I'm wearing here is the perfect gift for someone who is particular about their jewelry and wants a more custom piece without it needing to be engraved with their name or their birthstone on it; which oNecklace also offers! See some posts of me wearing their name and birthstone jewelry here and here.
You're able to choose your metal, chain length, chain style and clasp! For my snowflake necklace I chose rose gold plating, 20 inch ROLO chain and a lobster clasp. I'm a huge fan of lobster clasps because they're far easier than those pesky spring clasps most necklaces come with. The necklace is nice and thin and I love the detailing of the snowflake's crystals.
I've been blog neglecting this cardigan a bit over the last year or so. I got it in January 2015 and wore it CONSTANTLY, it became my default airplane outfit and I loved wearing it. But I guess I thought I wore it too much and stopped wearing it as much. It hasn't been on the blog since last November (in a similar outfit) but I've worn it at least a few times in the past year, I swear!
Cardigan: DKNY Oversized striped knitted cardigan (Net-a-Porter Sale), Cashmere Turtleneck: Vince (Marshalls), Jeans: Everlane high-rise skinny jean in mid-blue, Ankle Boots: Candie's c/o Kohl's (also here), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted), Snowflake Necklace c/o oNecklace
Dress: ELLE Poppy Zip Up Dress (Kohl's), Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Athena' (Gilt), Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Erika', Eyeglasses chain: Tinksky (Amazon)
Also, you may have noticed something different about my hands. Rather than wearing all my rings I'm wearing one beautiful ring. Yep, I'm engaged! My boyfriend proposed a few weeks ago while we were camping in Vermont. I wanted to wait until we were able to tell most of our family members before sharing it publicly.
You don't see much of my fiancé on the blog apart from his talent as a photographer, but he makes occasional appearances over on my Instagram. How lucky was I to find a handsome, caring man who just happens to love taking photos and will let me take as many shots as we need for posts. I'm not one to get too mushy or personal on here - and I won't start now - but I will say that I'm extremely happy to have found Christian and to be able to spend the rest of my life with him.
And for those of you that missed it on Instagram, here's the photo I shared last week.
