If I ever get to go on my dream African safari this shirt will definitely be in my suitcase. I'll probably look like a stupid tourist but I can't resist wearing leopards while keeping my eyes peeled for them on the horizon. Neutrals (khaki, brown, green) are the recommended colors for safaris, so this could potentially be a bit too bright, but if so I'll just wear it while we're not on a vehicle. Even these shorts will work, but I don't like how they look with this shirt and they always get super wrinkly. Struggles. (Look at me planning for a trip that probably won't happen for 10+ years, if ever, ha ha!)
I wore this for a day driving all over Connecticut with Christian, ha ha. We started by going to a couple bike stores (one in Milford where we took these photos) so he could see a few he's interested in in person. After that we headed to Marijane Boutique to see Lydia because it was only 10 minutes from one of the bike shops. It started to rain just as we were leaving so we didn't make any other stops.

Somehow these photos from the end of April got lost. We didn't take any photos in May and I totally forgot about these. So yay random new photos, I guess!
I was actually looking at my Timehop just last week (does anyone else still do that?) and saw that it has been NINE years since I bought this Equipment blouse in a sample sale one day on my way to work. That was back when I used to walk 1.5 miles from the train station to my office in New York City, ha ha. Yes, I was crazy, but it was exercise and I HATE the Subway.

Hopefully we'll go for a walk this weekend so I can take some outfit pictures for next week. I'm not a huge fan of taking pictures in front of our house (don't want the neighbors to think I'm a weirdo) so not sure I'll want to take them at home. But we'll see how desperate I become!
I hope everyone is staying as safe as possible during all this Coronavirus craziness. Christian has been on high alert since January so luckily we were stocked up on food before the national freakout the past couple weeks. At this point all anyone can do is stay away from people as much as possible. Luckily I already work from home so I will be trying not to leave the house, except perhaps for walks, for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately Christian still has to go to the office, even though they have the ability to work from home. Hopefully his boss allows that soon.

Wear a bodysuit - The foundation of this look is a bodysuit. You can get them printed, solid, tank, short sleeve, anything your heart desires! What's great about wearing a bodysuit with high waisted jeans is you get to show off how high the jeans go rather than covering them up with a top. That's not a bad thing, but if you want to really highlight the jeans, this is the simplest way!
Thin layers are also really helpful in Summer. Here I wore my high waisted jeans with a super thin silk button up blouse that I tied at the waist so it would accentuate the jeans. Since this particular blouse was long-sleeved I rolled them up to keep cool in the warmer weather. I was even able to get away with this top in the heat of Florida.
Crop tops and lightweight sweater tanks are another great way to show off high-waisted jeans. You can see how I've worn a crop top with high waisted jeans in this post from my vacation in Greece and in a light weight sweater here.
Normally people associate high waisted jeans with sweaters and Winter. But you really can wear them all year round if you style them right. I find that in Summer I want to wear lighter wash jeans or really thin fabric jeans. These Everlane jeans I'm wearing are on the thicker side but the light wash keeps them Summery. You also don't have to show off how high the waist actually goes. You could wear a silky dress over the jeans or a really lightweight cardigan. The sky is the limit! Just remember - keep it simple, keep it light and have fun!
How would you wear high waisted jeans in Summer?!
