Technically I wore this the day after Valentine's Day, but we were celebrating so I wore my trusty red Everlane sweater and brand new crimson red Loewe mini puzzle bag! It's such a fun burst of color and I've been enjoying wearing it with everything. That's one of my favorite parts of having something new, wearing the heck out of it for weeks!

This is the original puzzle bag and not the new "edge" version. I definitely prefer this 2018 version, it feels so much cooler. The Edge doesn't look as much like a puzzle because the pieces are sewn on top of one another. I really love the spacing in between the "pieces" on this version, feels more luxurious, detailed and more handcrafted versus just another mass produced bag. I found this post that explains the differences between them.

I've also been wearing this coat non-stop, probably need to rotate in some of my older ones! I would have worn my red Burberry coat this day but I already had a lot of red going on so I skipped it. After looking at the pictures I realized I should have worn my faux fur leopard coat! Oh well.

For our Valentine's celebration we headed up to Old Mistick Village for lunch and a walk around before heading back home just before the weekend snow storm began. We finally ate at Amalfi which has been on my list for over a year now. It was delicious! We got 2 appetizers and then each got one of their house-made pastas. I'm not usually a pasta person at restaurants but when they're handmade in-house it's hard to resist! Makes me feel like I'm back in Italy.

Here's a look at our day and what we had to eat:

Warmth is very important in the Winter and we're in the thick of it now. I've been wanting to get additional padding for my favorite winter boots for a few years now and kept putting it off. I finally found my solution in these fuzzy liner socks from Flat Socks! They are like insoles for your shoes but in sock material and they're washer/dryer safe, even these fur ones. This keeps the inside of your shoes clean. To learn more about how to use these liner socks check out my post on them from last year! Can you tell I'm wearing socks in this Instagram post? Well, I am!

While these are meant to replace socks I've been using them more as extra warmth for this particular pair of boots and I still wear socks with them.  The extra padding makes my feet super cozy and I love how soft they are. I even have a pair of arch support insoles under the liner socks to make them even more comfortable for long Winter walks or while shoveling snow.

I broke my no spending streak! But I used blog profits so technically still didn't spend "real" money.  I got a site credit/promotion for $25 off a $50 purchase at TheRealReal so I did a quick (aka all night long) browse and found a couple things to splurge on. Some new with tags jeans and a really cute Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater. After all my years of blogging still one of my favorite brands (even though it was discontinued in 2015, haha.) I also threw in an $8 tank to get me to the $50. Since that was so cheap I'm splitting the $25 between the sweater and jeans for wardrobe price purposes.

Upon writing this post I found out, according to WWD, that J Brand won't be selling jeans on their website and in department stores anymore. Hopefully this doesn't mean they will disappear because they're one of my favorite jean brands! (Especially the Maria high rise)

Beginning with the summer 2021 collection, J Brand will be sold via Fast Retailing’s divisions, Uniqlo and Theory stores.  The brand’s Web site will be paused in spring 2021 and will  eventually be redeveloped.  It is conceivable that J Brand would open freestanding stores in the future.

I also got a $15 credit for Madewell and was trying to resist using it but then yesterday they had extra 40% off sale and free expedited shipping. I ended up buying two v-neck tees for $4. Can't beat that! They should be here tomorrow. Apparently I had a purple theme this month.

I also got a few new things for a sponsored Instagram post this month. Some workout clothes from Dona Jo. And I got new pieces from Aurate for a post next month. Stay tuned!

I was not intending on taking outfit photos the day I wore this. Christian and I had a bunch of errands to run in the morning and after having an overindulgent lunch at Chili's (to use my free birthday dessert!) we decided to take a long walk in the park. It was too pretty to not snap a few photos so you get to see a super simple outfit and no makeup. Jeans, tee, cardigan - done!

It was a PERFECT Fall day so we ended up staying over an hour just walking around and chatting. Simple pleasures. A nice change from sitting on the couch on my computer all day. We were also having a nice laugh watching the park rangers go around the parking lot giving people tickets if they didn't have a park sticker. We don't live in town anymore so we actually bought a non-resident sticker so we could continue to come to this park.

The past two weekends I've had some good quality time with Layla! 2 weekends ago a friend came over and wanted to see her so I stole her from my cousin for a sleepover. Then this past weekend my cousin was going to a wedding so I took her overnight again. She also got to hang out at my parents' house for a bit. All the field trips!

She always enjoys coming down the road to our house because she can run around our backyard smelling all the new smells. On the way to my parents' house for a labor day get together we made a pit stop for outfit photos and a quick sniff for Layla. She was dragging me all over the place hunting for who knows what. Dogs are so funny.

I rarely wear this kimono for outfit photos because it just doesn't photograph that well, but I think these came out pretty good.  Whenever I wear this, which sadly isn't very often, I'm reminded of the infamous Extreme Cheapskates episode I filmed with Lydia in 2014. It still amazes me how people think shows like that are real. Spoiler: they are not. 90% is fabricated. They approached Lydia to highlight her "thriftiness" and then made up pretty much every segment of the show to make her look like a crazy person.

This blazer remains one of my favorite pieces of clothing and I've owned it since 2006. Technically this one is newer because I had to buy the next size up in 2013. I still have the original one because I can't bear to part with it! I bought the first one for $80 and the second was only $20! So still only $100 for 2 Marc Jacobs blazers that retailed way above that.

Not the biggest fan of how these photos turned out. My jeans are a little bunchy by my boots and I should have tucked in my shirt....oh well. I still like the outfit overall! Been wanting to break out my Marc Jacobs polka dot blazer for a few weeks and finally did it even though we had nothing special planned for the day. We did our taxes, went to the park for photos and then headed to Home Depot to buy seeds before going to my parents for dinner.

P.S. Isn't it cook how these cut down bushes look like fire?!
