{outfits} Disney Flashback Friday

Christian and I are at Disney World this weekend for our anniversary and I thought I would share outfits from our last two trips because somehow I never did blog posts after we got back... whoops! It's also because I was lazy and didn't have Christian take individual outfit photos of what I wore (although we did do videos for a Reel in May!) Shame on me! I guess that means you guys get Disney couples outfits in addition to Disney outfits for women. YAY!

Back in the day, I used to wear themed outfits and not many Disney shirts. But I've started to build up quite the collection so this trip was all actual Disney tops, ha ha. I still won't do ears headbands, too uncomfortable (and I don't like Minnie or bows so the design would have to REALLY be perfect for me to buy a pair.)

Do you guys still want me to do more detailed recap posts (what we ate, how we planned?) on these trips even though it's been so long? Probably not, haha. But maybe I should do an updated Disney vacation guide because the one I posted in 2020 (right before the pandemic closed everything down, ironically) is outdated.

October 2021 - Magic Kingdom's 50th Anniversary

We went to Florida with my friend Caleb to be there on October 1st, aka Disney World's 50th Anniversary! Going in with no expectations was the best thing we could have done because it might have been one of my better trips line-wise. It was less crowded than we though for what would normally have been a super crazy day. October 1st in Magic Kingdom was indeed super crowded and the park did hit capacity but the surrounding days (and ride lines that day) weren't bad at all. I'm so glad we went, it was such a cool experience.  Christian and I stayed at Art of Animation and Caleb stayed at Pop Century (by the time he booked AoA was full.) luckily they're walking distance from each other so we were able to take transportation together. (We also stayed at All Star Movies on our first night because our flight got changed to a day earlier.) Now on to the outfits!

I had a shoe fiasco this week because I decided to wear what many people say are the best theme park shoes - Teva. I thought I had sufficiently broken them in, but apparently I didn't because I had HUGE blisters all over my feet. It was so painful I had to start wearing them with Christian's socks near the end. Thank goodness for Disney's first aid office for giving out band-aids and moleskin.

9/29 - Animal Kingdom + Park Hopping

We started our trip with an early morning wake up for Animal Kingdom. We "rope dropped" Avatar Flight of Passage and then headed to the Safari. After that we met up with friends for more AK fun including lunch at Satu'li Canteen! Around 4 we hopped over to Hollywood Studios for a couple rides and dinner at Docking Bay 7 in Galaxy's Edge followed by hopping to Magic Kingdom to watch the last ever viewing of the Happily Ever After fireworks (SO SAD!)

9/30 - Hollywood Studios (& a little EPCOT)

We started our Hollywood Studios Day by rope dropping Slinky Dog Dash before having "breakfast" at Oga's Cantina. Then it was time for more rides, a snack and lunch at Backlot Express. Next we waited just under an hour to ride the brand new Star Wars ride - Rise of the Resistance. Considering the newness of the ride that was a fairly short wait. After that we hopped on the Skyliner to visit the Riviera Resort because I wanted to order a canvas print of Wall-E & Eve you can only purchase there. Then it was back to Hollywood Studios for dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater.  After a couple more rides Christian and I headed over to EPCOT on the skyliner to do a quick walk around and get some rides done. We also caught a glimpse of the fireworks show as we were heading out. We went to bed "early" aka around 10 to prepare for the next day!

10/1 - Magic Kingdom - The 50th Anniversary!

The big day, the 50th Anniversary! We were up at 5am to grab a bus from our hotel and stepped into the park just after 6:30am. The park didn't officially open until 8am (meaning no rides open until then and you couldn't leave Main Street.) The park was already packed but I still managed to spot my friend Amiyrah in the crowd and ran over to say hi and take a picture with our 7am tired faces, ha ha. During the time before the park actually opened we people watched and were trying to figure out how to join the Virtual Line to be able to buy anniversary merchandise that would only be available that day.

I had my favorite treat - a Cheshire Cat Tail from Cheshire Cafe for breakfast. They opened up the rides earlier than planned so we hopped on Seven Dwarves Mine Train with a pretty low wait. Surprisingly we didn't wait in many super long ride lines that day. Most of the lines were for merchandise, with actual fist fights breaking out because people wanted certain things. Luckily we were never near any of those fights but it's crazy that people get so wild about limited edition merchandise. We did wait in line about 45 minutes for one of the cute Mickey Balloon popcorn buckets, but it wasn't bad. Our virtual shopping group was called in the early afternoon so we were able to go into the exclusive "Day of only" shopping area to buy some items.

We had a bit of a struggle with our mobile lunch order at Pecos Bill - it took over an hour to get our food after our designated time slot. YIKES! Luckily the restaurant gave us a refund. I had made us one "sit-down" reservation at The Crystal Palace for that day so we would have a guaranteed meal, table and air conditioning.  Christian and I were pretty beat after dinner so we decided to stake out a spot for our group of 4 for the brand new Disney Enchantment Fireworks around 7pm (fireworks weren't until 9....OY!) We wanted to be able to get out fairly quickly so we found a spot near the beginning of main street and sat on the sidewalk. It was nice to have a rest for our feet and some good people watching too. Fireworks were over around 9:15 and we BOOKED it out of the park, weaving our way in and out of the crowd but still managing to grab our special Limited Edition 50th Anniversary posters and we were on a bus at 9:28. A true miracle! (If we had been any slower or further from the front of the park it could have been HOURS before we got a bus.

P.S. The first photo below was taken at 6:53am, not at night, haha!

10/2 - Magic Kingdom & EPCOT

We knew we might not get much done at Magic Kingdom the day before so we headed back again to fit in any rides or shopping we missed out on. Luckily the day before we actually did pretty good so we rode a few rides, had lunch at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, grabbed a Snow White Dole Whip from Storybook Treats and hopped on the monorail to EPCOT for some Food & Wine fun! Our friends met up with us later that evening so we could watch the new Harmonious fireworks. Once again we were strategic with our watching spot and made it at the back of the park since we needed to take the Skyliner back to the hotel and didn't want to wait in a crazy line. Once they were over we speed walked and made it in line pretty quickly *phew.*

Christian and I got SO MANY compliments on our shirts as we were tasting our way around the festival. The only downside to these shirts is that the back of the print is like a vinyl fabric so it was very sweaty. We'll have to layer underneath if we wear them again. (Fun fact: I wore both of these shirts in a really amusing Hercules Reel) I'm wearing a large in the tee because it was all they had left when I bought them, so I believe it would normally be more fitted than this.

10/3 - EPCOT

This was our actual EPCOT day. We were up bright and early to try to get a boarding group for the new Remy ride that opened on October 1st. Miraculously I got Boarding Group 20! (I was shocked as many people complain they can't get boarding groups this way or their number is like 140. At this point Boarding Groups were the only way to ride, no waiting in a normal line.) We got to the park at 9am and walked around the France pavillion and grabbed some breakfast at Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie until our boarding group was called just after 9:30. After riding we slowly walked around a very empty World Showcase (the countries don't open up until 11) and hopped on the Frozen ride with a pretty short wait. Then it was time to once again eat around the festival booths. I always have a HUGE list of things I want to eat which is why we went to EPCOT so many times on our trip. Never enough time for all the food! In the evening I FaceTimed my best friend Kristen and her son George from the new France area so she could see it. If it wasn't for Covid and having a newborn she would have been on the trip with us so it was good to experience a bit with her.

Annoyingly I forgot to take a full outfit picture in this shirt and it's one of my favorites! It's the passholder tee from the 2018 Food & Wine festival. So you'll just have to check out an eBay listing for the fun design, ha ha. Also - check out Christian's adorable shoulder friends. He became very attached to Orange Bird and Remy this trip and was very upset when I forgot to pack them in May (WHOOPS!) Hopefully I didn't forget to pack them for the trip we're on ;)

10/5 - More EPCOT (then home... 😔 )

On the 4th we cheated on Disney and went to Universal (and had lunch at our favorite restaurant there - Mythos), not going to share my outfit for that so we'll just move on to the last day of our trip. Of course we would spend our last few hours at EPCOT. Once again we got up early to try and get another boarding group for Remy. This time we got group 15, woo! After Remy we grabbed some breakfast at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Norway and then found a spot indoors to rest for a bit until the food booths opened. At the end of a trip it's all about the breaks, ha ha. After a sufficient amount of snacking we headed back to our hotel around 2 to catch our bus to the airport at 3. Sad times.

May 2022 - Friends & Family Trip

This trip was a redo of our May 2020 trip that was cancelled due to Covid. We planned this trip for my Mother in Law to join us and see Disney and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She only came for a long weekend and my friend's Caleb and Kristen were planning trips around the same time so we all ended up there on the same week. Christian and I spent the first half with them and the second half with his Mom and her husband.  We also dis a split stay at 3 different resorts - 2 of which were on my bucket list! Such a fun trip!

We also stayed at our new favorite hotel for the first time - Boardwalk Villas. We used DVC points because it's not something we could have afforded at Disney rack rates. Instead of staying there the whole time we did a split stay - started at Port Orleans French Quarter, another hotel on my bucket list, and finished at one of our old standbys - Pop Century.

After my Teva fiasco in October it was back to my trusty Ancient Greek Sandals for this trip. No more blisters, even when wearing newer pairs! Imagine that, no need to break them in. But my feed did still swell up in the heat so my feet were a bit uncomfortable at the end of each day.

Some of these photos are from videos so they won't be the best quality.

4/30 - Disney Springs & EPCOT

Arrival day!! We had a bit of a hectic morning on the day of our arrival so we slept in a bit and headed to Disney Springs for lunch at Blaze Pizza (our favorite!) We weren't planning on going to a park but decided to take a bus to Disney's Beach Club Resort and walked to EPCOT from there to buy Christian's Figment Magic Band and get some treats from the Flower & Garden Festival and met up with half of our friend group. Then we headed back to our hotel - Port Orleans French Quarter - to meet up with the rest of the group have a quick service dinner at Sassagoula Floatworks and get some Mickey shaped beignets from Scat Cat's Club. It was my friend Kristen's son's 1st birthday that day so we all got to celebrate with him! So cute.

5/1 - Animal Kingdom & Resort Hopping

Christian and I always seem to start our trips with Animal Kingdom, ha ha. As usual, we rope-dropped Flight of Passage, then grabbed some breakfast at Tamu Tamu Refreshments before riding the Kilimanjaro Safari. After that it was off to Expedition Everest before lunch at Yak & Yeti. After that the boys all wanted to ride Dinosaur (UGH!) so I closed my eyes for the whole ride and then we caught a performance of Kite Tails before seeing Kevin the Snipe. After that we headed to Caleb's hotel - Wilderness Lodge - so Christian and I could check out the lobby and see how cool it was. Before we left I changed into a dress I packed in my tote bag for dinner. We headed over to the Contemporary Resort by boat for dinner at Steakhouse 71 (where we were again joined by Kristen's family!) Side note: the Sea Salt-dusted Potato Brioche is AMAZING and I was very upset when Disney wouldn't give me the recipe, ha ha.

5/2 - Magic Kingdom & EPCOT Extra Magic Hours

This morning we got up early to drive over to our new hotel - Boardwalk Villas - we rented Disney Vacation Club points to stay here and it was AMAZING. Christian's new favorite hotel. After that it was off to rope drop Magic Kingdom so we could ride Seven Dwarves Mine Train without a huge line.  After that we did a couple more rides before a snacky lunch at Sunshine Tree Terrace and Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.  See this Reel to see what we had at SST, YUM! Time for more rides with the friends before Christian and I headed to our early dinner reservation at 'Ohana at the Polynesian Resort. After we headed back to Magic Kingdom for more rides and to watch the fireworks with friends. The park was so crowded we got to walk "backstage" to exit.

This evening had Deluxe Extra Magic Hours at EPCOT where hotel guests at the fancier hotels get an extra 2 hours at a park on certain nights. We took that as an opportunity to ride Soarin' and Remy without long waits! Then Christian and I were able to walk back to our hotel which was a real nice benefit of staying at Boardwalk.

Disney Couple Style tip: even if your significant other doesn't have or want Disney themed shirts you can still color coordinate. When I wear blue, he also wears blue. Above we both wore red. It's an easy way to match but not force thm into clothes they don't want to wear. (Christian does enjoy some Disney shirts, but doesn't need a whole wardrobe full like I have, ha ha)

Tee: 50th Anniversary EARidescent Mickey Mouse foil tee (bought the first day of the trip, yay!), Shorts: Madewell Camp Shorts c/o Shopbop, Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Clara' Sandal c/o Shopbop, Bag: Dooney & Bourke 2017 Sorcerer Mickey Disney Shopper Tote (eBay), Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Erika'

5/3 - EPCOT

Started our day with some treats from the (now closed) Boardwalk Bakery and headed over to EPCOT. We had a couple snacks throughout the morning but didn't eat too much because we were having lunch at Space 220.  After Space 220 we rode our favorite slow ride - Living with the Land and walked over to the Beach Club Resort to meet Kristen for some ice cream at Beaches & Cream. Then we slowly made our way back to EPCOT and found a spot to watch the fireworks in Mexico. This trip was definitely more about leisurely breaks than go go go because we had more time. We were VERY glad we didn't have to use park transportation after the fireworks and walked straight by the crazy long line for the Skyliner (it looked like it was HOURS long.) back to our hotel.

We went for food themed tees for this day, so clever of us at EPCOT. Ha ha.

5/4 - Star Wars Day at Hollywood Studios & Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours

May the 4th Be With You! Ever since Galaxy's Edge was announced I wanted to spend a Star Wars Day there. We were supposed to do it in 2020 for Galaxy's Edges first ever May 4th but as we all know the parks were closed. Two years later and we got to do it! We walked from our hotel to avoid the long bus or skyliner lines to get to the park, yet another benefit of the Boardwalk, and arrived just before 7:30 for our half hour early entry for being hotel guests. We went straight for Galaxy's Edge and instead of trying to ride Rise of the Resistance (we knew the line would be crazy) we walked on to Smugglers Run, the Millenium Falcon ride with no wait at all.

We did a few more rides, shopped the exclusive merchandise (another Virtual Queue like on the 50th anniversary) and then had lunch with special Star Wars desserts at Backlot Express and Christian had some totchos at Woody's Lunchbox. We met back up with Kristen for drinks at Oga's Cantina and then we watched her son while she, her husband and Caleb rode Rise of the Resistance (we planned on paying to ride it later in the week with Christian's mom so we didn't want to pay twice.)

After that Christian and I hopped over to EPCOT for some more Food & Wine goodies befor heading back over to Magic Kingdom for our Deluxe Extra Magic hours. The park was open until 1am for Deluxe hotel guests but we were pretty beat so we left at midnight.

Han Solo & Leia couples shirts (bought on our first trip to Disney in January 2018, awwww), Shorts: Madewell, Bag: Dooney & Bourke 2017 Sorcerer Mickey Disney Shopper Tote (eBay), Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals Alethea perforated sandal, Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Erika'

5/5 - Disney Springs

Christian's Mom arrived this day so we had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe and went to Disney Springs for dinner at Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'. No outfit photo because I forgot, haha! At this point we were VERY tired.

5/6 - Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom & Magic Kingdom

We switched hotels yet again this day, over to Pop Century. It was a shame I couldn't find us a reservation at Boardwalk for the rest of our stay but at least we enjoyed a few days there! This was our big park hopping day. We started at Hollywood Studios so Christian's mom could see and do all the Star Wars things. We had lunch at Sci-Fi Dine In before hopping over to Animal Kingdom so they could ride Flight of Passage and the safari. We had hoped to ride more but it was very hot so we headed back to the hotel to rest a little before going to Magic Kingdom. I also changed out of my tee into a breezy tank so I wouldn't sweat my skin off, ha ha.

We had dinner reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern (a little over-hyped or we hit it on a bad day,) rode Pirates (his mom loves those movies) and caught a bit of the fireworks before riding Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World. Christian and I made sure to get our Lava You Dole Whip again before we headed back to the hotel.

5/8 - EPCOT

On the 7th we took Christian's mom to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, her bucket list place! Unfortunately it was not the best day, too hot and crowded, so we didn't last long and ended up going back to the hotel early to relax.

The 8th was Mother's Day which was another reason we wanted to do the trip with his Mom at this time. They wanted to get on the road to head home so we only spent the morning at EPCOT. We made sure she rode Living with the Land (she loves to garden) and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. We also showed her the aquarium and then they headed out.

Christian and I had some very exciting plans for the afternoon - the first Passholder preview day for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! We really lucked out that the first day of previews was the last day of our trip AND that I was able to snag a time slot. It would have been such a shame to be THAT CLOSE to riding. The ride was soooo cool and we almost rode it again but a lot of the line was outside and we were just too tired to stand in the sun for another half hour. So after we rode we took some photos in the area and then slowly made our way back to the hotel and started our long drive home.

Top: Our Universe Disney Tangled Paint Scene Tie-Front Blouse, Shorts: Madewell Camp Shorts c/o Shopbop, Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Clara' Sandal c/o Shopbop, Bag: Disney x Coach 'Patricia' with Mickey ears

Fun fact: I used Christian's Work Christmas Party theme to my advantage. The theme was Hawaiian shirts and Christian and I decided to go nerdy so I found a Disney one (and he got Mario.) No guilt in the purchase because we couldn't go to the party in normal shirts!! And of course I had Christian match with the purple in my shirt for our outfits here.

And, in case you missed it, here's the Reel I made with all my outfits from this May trip.

  1. You have so many cute Disney themed outfits! The matching couple tees are adorable - especially the star wars set! :) I have only been to Disney once - the one in Paris - and I really want to go back and spend more time there one day!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :)

  2. Oh my goodness, this is such a great round up! You're really making me miss Disney - we were passholders when we lived in Florida, but we don't go back often enough to make it worth it. I'm way overdue for a trip!
