{outfits} Shake It Up Part II

A couple weeks ago I did a post rounding up some of the ways I have styled my clothes to get the most bang for my buck.  Let's continue that post today, shall we?  As I stated in my first post, it is pointless to buy an item and not wear it often.  Cost per wear is one of the most important things I think about when buying an item.  For those of you that don't know what that is, here is a quick lesson: price of item ÷ by number of times worn = true cost

This philosophy doesn't always work, sometimes you need to spend more money for quality or a piece you really love (see: Chanel), but it is a great general rule of thumb.  Try to get the cost/wear as low as you can, if you make it under $1...AMAZING!  Thrifting is a great way to find items that will cost next to nothing in the long run. However, be careful not to be seduced by a really low price, if you won't wear it: don't buy it!

Song of the Day: Shake It Up by The Cars

The Piece: Alexander Wang 'Freja' Booties

The Piece: T. Babaton Snakeskin Sweater

The Piece: Theyskens' Theory Leather Jacket

The Piece: Marc Jacobs Velvet Polka Dot Blazer

The Piece: Inis Crafts Fishermans Sweater

The Piece: Free People Wide Leg Jeans
I think my best purchase to date has been my Marc by Marc Jacobs Baby Aidan purse (seen throughout the images above.) I bought it in July 2011 and it has rarely left my arm since.  It is my main work purse, so that's 5 days a week plus I use it a lot on weekends as well.  I do make sure to rotate my other bags in as well, but I use it 80% of the time.  My mom was shocked when I spent $320 on it, looks like the joke is on her now because I have probably gotten the cost down to at least 95¢ per wear ;)

  4. I seriously love seeing all the different ways you wear some of your favorite pieces! It really makes no sense to wear something you love only a handful of times.

  12. What a great way to justifying buying quality pieces...especially when you use it enough. It's also a great way to justify when not to buy something....which is always tough for me because I can always rationalize why it's a good idea to buy something haha.

  15. I never got into the purse switch deal. I have a couple of purses that are unique and so worn with special outfits. Is it beneficial to have more than one? Or is it just the wonderful allure of aesthetic?
