I decided I would start blogging when I find pieces that I want to add to my wardrobe as part of my new style philosophy. As I said mostly I wear dresses, jeans and blazers. So having a variety of those would be good. I do go a bit wild with my shoes and don't even have a pair of basic black pumps. But today I decided to showcase an accessory that is really lacking in my wardrobe: a watch.
I have one other watch that I got from The Outnet after my shoot but it is brown and teal, not exactly basic. I decided on the Rose Gold Michael Kors watch (or maybe the Marc Jacobs version). Since it isn't silver or normal gold it will go with ANYTHING so it will last forever. There are 2 versions of the watch and I chose the slightly smaller one (by .5cm, ha ha.)
I won't be getting it for a while, but it is on my list of needed items, so it's only a matter of time. It will take me a while to get used to the idea of spending $250 on a watch but I need to remind myself that I will wear it every day and it will last a long time. It definitely meets the requirements of my $1 per wear rule.
For those of you that don't know, the rule is: price of item÷ by number of times worn= true cost ;) Even the DKNY PR Girl uses this system, check out our tweets discussing it below.
I adore that watch! And I am actually buying my mom one for her 50th birthday! I also have the gold version, it is an investment, but a good watch makes people take you more seriously in the work force. I've seen the reactions I get to my watch, not even me when I wear it! Invest!

It's super pretty! I think I slightly prefer the Marc Jacobs one, for some reason. I'm also wanting a watch, so maybe a vintage leather strapped one, or something.
ReplyDeleteI do use the cost/wear ratio, but not exclusively. After all, some of my cheapest things get the most wear, and also it's so difficult to predict what you will wear all the time and what you won't. I feel like I would never wear black pumps, for example, but maybe I would... ; )
i adore the michael kors watches! but, as a less expensive alternative, go for a fossil watch. fossil actually makes the michael kors watches, so they're pretty much the same. they have a rose gold aluminum that's really lightweight and awesome. i'm not suggesting this just cause i work there, they really are awesome watches. 11 year warranty :) go look into it!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one coveting a rose gold watch. I seriously think it's a really good investment. I mean a good quality watch is something that you get a ton of mileage out of.

I recently purchased the MK watch which I got for $200 because the style was being discontinued - it's the gold and silver combo which is very versitile for gold and silver jewelery! But I bought this piece as a statement piece for work since I rarely wear accessories. It's basic and beautiful. It's really quite comfortable once you get used to wearing watch.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the rose gold color! Looks so elegant! :)

I love this MK watch. A friend of mine recently purchased it and I agree with you on putting it on your list of purchases haha :P
ReplyDeleteLove that formula! So perfect for rationalizing items...xo
ReplyDeleteI have the MK Rose Gold and love it, but I probably should have gotten the slightly smaller one lol.
ReplyDeletei think the watch is nice :D
ReplyDeleteI am always thinking of cost per wear!! That is not only how I decide to purchase, but when I evaluate if purchases I have made were worth it.
ReplyDeleteI have this Fossil tote that I bought at a Ross for 70 bucks. At first I had a hard time buying anything from Ross for that amount of money; however I have easily used it daily for a year and a half. Totally worth it.
Good equation! It makes me feel a lot better about some or my pricier items. :D
ReplyDeleteI have gold Michael Kors and I love it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have had my eye on that Michael Kors watch for about a year now! I think I should just start saving! And I like that true cost equation : ) I'll have to use it!
ReplyDeleteThese watches look superb and I think you get yourself one.
ReplyDeleteThat watch is terrific! <33
ReplyDeleteI ADORE my MK and wear it almost every day, unless gold just really doesn't go with my outfit. And on those days, I miss it. It is definitely a timeless piece. You can find a lot of them on ebay for only $150, which is still a lot, but much better. Check around before you get one. But you are an expert discount shopper, so you know that!
ReplyDeleteI NEED an MK watch in my life. Pure love! :)SarahD
ReplyDeleteI've been coveting that MK beauty for a while now. I think it would get mucho use lady! p.s. Got my necklace. Love it! Thanks again! I linked you in today's post and my guest post over at The Looks for Less on Monday!
ReplyDeletethats a lot of dough to plop down for a watch but if you will wear it everyday then get it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the watch and i love the true cost formula ;)
ReplyDeleteI really love that watch! I would love to own a Micheal Kors watch.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I've worn anything in my closet 100 times?
ReplyDeleteWell, a little silver ring I paid $7 for when I was 13 that I've worn every day since.
But let's say you've got 50 pairs of shoes (I definitely do) and you wore them equally that only gives each shoe 7 wears a year. If my average cost per pair of shoes is $50 then it could take up to 8 years to get the cost down to a dollar.
Assuming you wore all your shoes equally, but who does that?
This beautiful watch has such a lovely colour. So addicting! Love the "TerrysTwoCents" quote! -XXOO
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with this. I'm currently watch shopping because I lost my old watch (haha a vintage timex....it was my LIFE - had it for an embarassing amount of time). Anywhos, I'm between two Guess watches: a gold one and a tortoise shell one....Can't figure out which yet - but I know I will wear it EVERYDAY! so....basically if I wore it everyday for a year...it would be 0.55$ a year....haha good deal to me :) Great post

I have practiced that very same philosophy for years. Makes perfect sense!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! In general I follow the rule quality not quantity... Good watches same as shoes and bags are Iinvestment! They will las a long time:) so dont worry about $250. Your new watches totally worth it!

Interesting idea about the true cost of an item based on how many times you wear it. I have some items in my closet I got for super cheap from the thrift store, like $5, that I wear ALL the time. Their cost per wear is at like 5 cents. funny.
