The Valentino Jacket

My Valentino jacket came yesterday. I ran upstairs to get my package when I got home and carefully opened it! Sadly it didn't fit me as well as I'd hoped. Its a little big in the arms and when I tie the belt the sides puckered.  I took some photos for you all to see, it actually looks quite good in the photos, better than it does in person...so maybe I need to get used to it. I'm going to think about it for a while and then decide what to do with it...*sigh* I wish it had fit me perfectly, that would have made things so easy.

Sorry for complaining so much, ha ha, I know I should be SO excited since I was lucky enough to get something but I'm just a bit bummed that it isn't exactly what I'd hoped. Complaining OVER! Now I will be excited that I have a Valentino in my closet!! *dances* ;)

UPDATE: Okay, so the verdict according to comments is that I keep it, I was planning on keeping it anyway, but I always have to vent these things out. Lydia put what I'm feeling into words, she is so good at things like that, ha ha...so here's what she said:
Well, it does look totally cute in the photos, but i completely understand your disappointment -- when it comes to designer items, something with an obscene price tag, you imagine that when you put it on some choir of angles is going to start singing and you will never wear a more perfect bit of fabric and thread.
You think that if you love the clothes that cost $10 than this, this has got to be the MOST AMAZING THING EVER.
And it's tough to live up to those expectations. They are only bits of fabric and thread after all.
BUT I might list it on eBay with an insane price just to see what happens, haha... ;)

  3. I agree it does look a bit different than the stock photos but it looks absolutely amazing, since you only paid $2 you can pay to have it tailored if you need to. I would just be extatic to be so lucky!

  8. In the photos it looks nearly perfect - maybe you need to just wear it a bit and get accustomed to it? Or is there any way you could tailor it a bit? Either way, Valentino!!!!!

  12. It looks like the jacket fits you great! Maybe have it tailored if you're not happy with it? Sometimes a little altering makes a huge difference!

  13. It's gorgeous that jacket! It does looks like it fits perfectly in pictures but if you don't feel like it does that way in real life then you should select other size or make some adjustments, your mom is good sewer right? maybe she can make some tricks!

  15. Girl, tailor it! :) You only paid 2 dollars so honestly...tailoring will add another 20. Which will bring this jacket total to about 22 which is STILL amazing. Jackets like these that AREN'T designer aren't that cheap! :) You look lovely in it! So tailor and KEEP :) From what I see, the colour is very light and delicate. Love it! :)

  18. Ah, that's too bad! Really, I think it looks fine in the photos, though a bit too shiny for me... but since it was only $2, and it's Valentino I would just keep it!

  19. it is very cute. it was only $2 and it's valentino so i'd say tailor it or sell it for a nice profit :)

If it doesn't fit quite right - maybe you could have someone take it in a bit/do a little tailoring. I think you should keep it too!

  30. I have to agree with everyone else that it looks great on you! I don't think it is supposed to fit much tighter than it does. It should be a little loose and flowy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think it looks good but not great?

Its an amazing piece that you can have in your closet, but are you going to wear it and wear it often?

    xoxoxo

    ReplyDelete
  32. and yes of you can alter it to fit you better it will be a piece to keep :)

  33. Read this and then read your previous post: I can't believe it cost $2! That's amazing!

  35. i think it looks lovely on you! definitely KEEP IT! if you really think they fit is a bit off maybe you could have it tailored, but i think it looks perfect!

  36. it looks like an amazing jacket. looks nice with the jeans.

  37. I'm glad you are going to keep it. That material would show puckering and pulling even if there were none, and the sleeves can be fixed by a tailor easy peasy. I have gone in for weirder fixes. Besides, for that price you can get it tailored and wear it open if need be. So chic.

  38. Oh .. very interesting post, specially because there is a long story.. first you are crazy for the jacket and then the reality makes you think something very different.
Honestly the jacket looks amazing on you, really! maybe you wanted something.. (I don't know the word) but something that could fit(s) better on you, but I can see a jewel :) Really!!
    Probably you should try first!
    :)

Maybe you will love it even more than before!
    See you sweetie!

  39. i completely understand your disappointment. i often feel like something should fit me perfect and i just ordered from forever 21 :) but really it does look great on you in the pictures! love the yellow color!

  40. Sad! Such a disappointment when everything doesn't work out just perfectly. But I don't think you should be disappointed - the jacket looks amazing!

Sorry just had to say it - I know I'm not helping your decision here.

  41. My tip is to invest in a really good tailor. Clothes are always tailored to fit the fit model and that is not necessarily going to be your shape. I get 90% of my clothes tailored and it makes such a big difference in fit. I'll even get some of the cheap F21 or H&M stuff tailored.

  42. I really like it and I am so glad you are keeping it. Maybe take it to a trusted tailor?

  43. That jacket looks amazing on you. Don't you dare get rid of it!! This is the voice of reason calling out: The color and cut is superb. Find a good tailor and have it taken in a smidge, but honestly don't get rid of it. It's beautiful on you!!

  45. Oh my goodness! AMAZING JACKET! It looks fabulous on you! I'm sure it's just as fabulous in person, sometimes we tend to over anaylze little details when we love something too much? Hehehe. That's what I do with shoes. HAHAHA!

  46. I think it`s quite too large size for you. I`d sell it if I were you.

  48. try tying the belt in a knot instead of like a normal proper belt-it may fit just a bit better. (that's the way i tie my new burberry trench-you can see my post from monday to see what i mean) :) but i, too, am not overly thrilled with the fit of my new alberta ferretti outnet find-but just feel LUCKY to have received an invite :)

  50. It looks great on you! It's an amazing score for sure. I like the idea of putting it on Ebay with a crazy price and if it sells then you've got some major cash, if it doesn't you have an amazing Valentino jacket!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Uh, I hate when that happens! You've got such high expectations, and then no fireworks. (it sounds like I'm referring to a kiss, haha :P) If it's not growing on you within a few weeks, yeah sell it on eBay. Get some extra cash. I'd do it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well I agree it looks adorable on you, but of course the important thing is how it makes you feel. If you don't feel good in it, you won't wear it, and it will have been a waste of money.

I like the Ebay idea. Just throw it on there with a reserve of like $600 and see what happens ;)

  53. If you don't like how it flares when it's tied, what about leaving it open?

  54. this looks so good. i love how you styled it! your hair up like that looks awesome with the collar
