Review: Chanel Riva

Before I get to Chanel, check out the new blog design I did for The Fashion 411!

So the Chanel Riva nail polish I ordered arrived on Thursday and I finally had the chance to test it out yesterday!  So here we go, my first experience with Chanel nail polish! WOOT!  Before I get to that I must say I LOVE their packaging! The box is such great quality and the tissue paper even has the Chanel logo on it, that must be why things cost so much there, the packaging ;) I kid, but it definitely makes it worth the price when they make such an effort to package things nicely. (is it weird that I'm keeping it all? I even flattened and folded up the tissue paper)

I may not be that into accessories (since I never want to buy them) but I LOVE nail polish. I cannot go more than one day without it or my hands feel naked. I need to expand my collection so I don't steal my moms as much. So...here we go with the review. This is my first time using Chanel nail polish so I can't compare it to the other Chanel ones, but I can compare it to my usual polishes (Rimmel London, Sally Hansen, Revlon, etc.)
I did three coats since this is a pretty light color. The first coat went on really light and was  bit stripey, but most nail polishes I use are like that anyway. Then after the next two coats it was perfection. *added* Emily reminded me that I wanted to say the brush is a little bit thin, that could be part of the problem with why it goes on stripey at first...*added* It is perfect for the Spring and Summer and to add a little brightness to this icky winter we're having.  (ignore how dry my hands are...haha...and I was a little messy, but whatever, it comes off)
Now hopefully this lasts me the whole week like my other nail polishes do, I rarely have time to repaint them during the week... :)  Overall this was a good first experience with Chanel nail polish. I'd love to try other colors but I'll wait a while before I buy my next one since they're so pricey.

    Interesting. I have a nail polish from Chanel (that pale blue one that everyone in blogland had over the summer) and I wasn't that keen on the polish itself (love the colour). I feel it goes on really stripey (mind you, I never have the patience to do three coats, two is usually my limit). I also don't like how the brush is so small. My favourite nail polishes so far for application are the Rimmel pro line, which have this nice big flat brush...

    Having said that, I actually applied my Chanel again yesterday, and it went on better, so maybe it's just my patchy application skills? hehe, I'll stop spamming your comments... ; D

    it's channel anyway so wowww!!!!!!
    an advice:don't put nail polish to the wwhole nail.keep "unpolishing" the quite right and lef of the nail.so your nail will show longer and you can remove it easily!!

    That's such a pretty porcelain blue. My nail polish NEVER stays on more than a day or so without chipping, and since I can't stand to have chipped nail polish, I end up taking it off. Let us know how long this lasts.

    Wow I seriously love that color. Chanel has thee coolest nailpolish ( but that was the point of this post, the awesome polish.) I was looking at some of your earlier posts and I love your outfits and inspiration posts!

    I am absolutely with you on the needing-polishes-to-last-all-week front. The worst part is when they start to chip and I absent-mindedly start peeling off the rest! Not a good look.

    Color is amazing! I don't really like Chanel polishes...I think the cheaper ones go on better! Chanel peels right off of my nails! But you can't beat the color of this!

    I get ALL my Chanel packages gift wrapped :) You're not alone in that matter!

    I actually JUST got my hands on a Chanel vintage classic flap...it's the small one but I LOVE IT. It was very affordable (it's slightly damaged but it's sooooo unnoticeable). I know you wanted to get a flap too, you should look into the vintage ones!

    Well the color is perfection--just bright enough with lots of white mixed in...but still very blue. I love it! I think I'll stick to my American Apparel polishes though. Of everything I've tried, nothing is so shiny or lasts so long!

    Oh, it is very pretty! I'd love to hear if it wears better than less expensive polishes - be nice to know the inflated price is for more than just a name and a pretty box.
