I was going to post a Requested Dress for Less today but decided to post my new Marc Jacobs dress since it came on Friday! Yay for only paying $28!!! :D I'm not sure what to do about it though...it's longer than I thought it would be, looked shorter on the model...but that's because she is tall. There are two ways to wear it...with the tie all the way down, or pulled up a bit so the dress is a little shorter. I took a few quick photos before I left to go to my friends house.
I COULD have my mom take off the bottom tier and it would be perfect (she's an awesome sewer, used to make my clothes when I was little)...but I'm not sure :/ I think it is an odd length, if it was a bit longer it would be fine...What do you think?

ReplyDeleteGreat find! ... I do agree that the length it's not what it was supposed to but you look great in it, but if you'd feel more comfortable you shoul have your mom shorten it a little bit, a shorter length will elongate your body ;) good luck deciding!

With the tights, the length doesn't bother me. Without (or at least with the booties) you look too cut off and it needs to be shorter.
ReplyDeleteUsually when it comes to alterations I consider two things: How much more I'll be able to wear it if I change it vs. how much I'll hate myself if something goes horribly wrong and I can't wear it at all.

I actually like the length--it's refreshing especially for fall! I say keep it long for the cooler months and then hem it when it gets warmer :)

I'd ask her to take it up, but not from the bottom hem. If she does it at the waist seam, then the pretty drape of the bottom tier won't be disturbed.

I think this dress is beautiful on you! The color is perfect for you. I agree the length is a little odd, but I think you are pulling it off. If you'd feel better shortening it, I'd say take off the whole bottom tier. But you are rocking it!

After all "longer hemlines are in this fall" etc.etc, and I think it would be really cute with tights and boots, (or with those shoes you're wearing, hehe). And then next year your mom can take it up and it'll be like having a new dress all over again!
